20 inch Box Fan

Recommended Posts

I rarely look at (FREE THINGS ONLY) thread but the last couple times here I wondered why a Free Box Fan generated so much activity. Well I started reading and I must say, grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif! Leno or Letterman would have a field day with this....

20 inch Box Fan

I may be missing something, but I really don't get why every one is getting all worked up about a person that happens to have a great personal interest in specifically-sized square enclosures? So what if he or she likes 20 inch boxes? Some people might call me a fan of odd things, too. And so what if they happen to apply stickers to themselves; alot of people wear non-comformist attire. Easier to remove than a tattoo, anyway.

Why is this so funny?

RECAPPING....

Ok well it has lost a few stickers and gain a few along its travels.. When the box fan first came around, it was listed as..The fan has a Unicorn, Teddy bear and a Kansas City Royals baseball club sticker on it.

Then it was located at these Coordinates from WCS at

44° 47.0188' N 93° 3.3234' W

and Deitz did a search only to find it was in the middle of a garbage dump..

From there it ended up on my front steps but the next day it was gone.. And No stickers but it does have a nice dent on the right side, oh and it doesn't have a handle either

..

Lisa thought maybe Jameson might have taken a midnight run to claim his next restoration project

But LABS4ME Made a note....enclose is the following

Note to self...

Stock up on broken-down, used 20" box fans... there's a definite market for them in Minnesota!

Then Bobby Bass had a sighting

Was passing the time on Main street here at Lake Iwanttobethere. I was doing some window shopping when I noticed a pale weathered orange VW van slowly driving down main street in my direction. It was all done up in painted flowers and green leaves. It reminded me a lot of my long forgotten past youth. It caught my attention not because of the loud muffler or the vast number of bumper stickers and other stickers which were covering rust spots. But it was what was in the back window as it passed me. There appeared to be a 20 inch box fan pressed up against the glass, it was missing a blade and it sent a chill down my back as I could almost hear it crying out for help. I turn to see if anyone else had seen the van and by the time I turned back it was just making a turn off main street and was gone from sight. Somehow I got that gut feeling that the fan was in some sort of trouble. I soon forgot about it till I saw mention here about a 20 inch box fan. Hmmm

The duckslayer had a bit to say...

LMAO!!! Some people have way to much spare time. It may however explain where all the 20 inch box fans are going!

Harmonica Bear took pictures as it came speeding through... See thread for pictures

Lisa could have got it for her birthday but its still at large..

So Dave... we are not sure anymore if some or all of the stickers were removed or new ones added along the way..

But DTRO has the box fan wind generator coming to a fish house soon, so stay tuned to this threat to find out more of the traveling box fan!!!

If fan is found, while cleaning out my shed at lake last fall I found a Aluminum fan blade for a 20 inch box fan so if found contact me and I will forward a replacement blade to the owner. I don't have any stickers though frown.gif

all I want for Christmas is a 20' box fan

I seem to remember a thread about that 20' box fan, and most guys decided that it was just too large to bother with attempting to transport. That thread died off after just a few replies, as I recall. Now, the 20" size box fan... talk about one of yer hot items...

I think I fixed it...ok?

Don't do that Tom!!! I thought that you meant that you had fixed the missing blade on the fan! I was prepeared to do whatever it took to get that fan so that I could use it at the fling next year at LIWBT. Dang, I guess that I am back int he market for one though should it or another one show up. Take care and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo

There isn't one person who hasn't thought this thread wasn't funny!!!..We make people laugh..Dont know who your talking about by saying " some don't think its funny...

Just look around, we even have safety orange wallpaper in here with purple bean bags to boot.. Now if we could find that darn fan we would have it made... I heard a few talking that that they spotted it on the ice being used as a snowmobile anchor.. Not sure how and why, but we need to get it back, so if anyone sees a snowmobile tied to a 20 inch box fan, grab the fan..

We haven't opened our presents yet-not till tomorrow (my boy with his dad until tomorrow) so there's still some hope for me! There are a couple nicely square packages under there-the hope's still alive for that fan under my tree!! grin.giflaugh.gifgrin.gif

I'm not there, so I can't tell exactly what's going on but it looks like a large area of open water developed in the last day with all of the heavy snow on the east side of wake em up Narrows. These two photos are from my Ring Camera facing north towards Niles Point.  You can see what happened with all of snow that fell in the last three days, though the open water could have been wind driven. Hard to say. .

Black Bay had great ice before but a few spots near rockpiles where there were spots of open water. It looks like the weight of the snow has created a little lake in the middle of the bay.

On the south end...   Thanks to some cold spring weather, ice fishing continues strong for those still ice fishing.  The bite remains very good.  Most resorts have pulled their fish houses off for the year, however, some still have fish houses out and others are allowing ATV and side by sides.  Check social media or call ahead to your favorite resort for specifics. Reports this week for walleyes and saugers remain excellent.   A nice mix of jumbo perch, pike, eelpout, and an occasional crappie, tullibee or sturgeon being reported by anglers. Jigging one line and using a live minnow on the second line is the way to go.  Green, glow red, pink and gold were good colors this week.     Monster pike are on a tear!  Good number of pike, some reaching over 45 inches long, being caught using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring in 8 - 14' of water.   As always, work through a resort or outfitter for ice road conditions.  Safety first always. Fish houses are allowed on the ice through March 31st, the walleye / sauger season goes through April 14th and the pike season never ends. On the Rainy River...  The river is opened up along the Nelson Park boat ramp in Birchdale, the Frontier boat ramp and Vidas boat ramp.  This past week, much of the open water skimmed over with the single digit overnight temps.   Areas of the river have popped open again and with temps getting warmer, things are shaping up for the last stretch through the rest of the spring season, which continues through April 14th.   Very good numbers of walleyes are in the river.  Reports this week, even with fewer anglers, have been good.  When temps warm up and the sun shines, things will fire up again.   Jigs with brightly colored plastics or jigs with a frozen emerald shiner have been the desired bait on the river.  Don't overlook slow trolling crankbaits upstream as well.   Good reports of sturgeon being caught on the river as well.  Sturgeon put the feed bag on in the spring.  The bite has been very good.  Most are using a sturgeon rig with a circle hook loaded with crawlers or crawlers / frozen emerald shiners. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing is winding down up at the Angle.  Walleyes, saugers, and a number of various species in the mix again this week.  The bite is still very good with good numbers of fish.  The one two punch of jigging one line and deadsticking the second line is working well.   Check with Angle resorts on transport options from Young's Bay.  Call ahead for ice road guidelines.

With the drifting, kind of hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing about a foot and still lightly snowing. Cook end!

How much snow did you get on Vermilion?
    • Mike89
lake here refroze too...  started opening again yesterday with the wet snow and wind...  very little ice left today...
    • Hookmaster
A friend who has a cabin between Alex and Fergus said the lake he's on refroze. He texted me a pic from March 12th when it was open and one from 23rd when it wasn't. 🤯
    • SkunkedAgain
I don't think that there has been any ice melt in the past few weeks on Vermilion. Things looked like a record and then Mother Nature swept in again.   I'll give my revised guess of April 21st

As I get older it's really not just about sending bullets down range.  Some of it's just the workmanship of the gun and the wow factor. The other two guns I have really wanted which I'll never have now because of their price, is a 8mm Jap Nambu and 9mm German Luger.   Just thought they always looked cool!

I had a guy hit me with a lightly used 1969 BAR, he wanted $1650 with an older Leupold scope. More than I think they are worth, I made an offer, he declined end of story.   You know if you look at the old brochures, a grade II BAR sold for $250 in the late 60s, $1650 would be a good return on your investment.    Why would anybody want a 50 year old gun, they are heavy, have wood stocks, and blued metal.  I guess mainly to keep their gun safes glued to the floor. lol   You can probably buy a stainless rifle that you never have to clean, with a synthetic stock you never have to refinish, is as light as a feather, and for half as much money, perfect.   I'm too old for a youth gun, although I've shrunk enough that it would probably fit. lol   No Ruger 10/44s.   Jim
