I'm not really in favor of participating in a hijacking of this incredibly important box fan thread, but perhaps you've heard of my holiday bakery, "Season's Eatings"?

Dang it... Do you think they have picked up the garbage yet????

My brother-in-law has a small row boat with holes. If the blad was in good shape, I could have used it to rig up an outboard for him! It is too hard to row and bail at the same time!

[image]839724001525md.jpg[/image] The box fan in better days, found doing a family search. It was found in a cigar box at one of the cabins here at Lake Iwanttobethere. It was first used to cool a cabin then was relocated never to return. It was noted as being the only heir in some recent documents uncovered. There were some identifying stickers..

That old fan loved baseball, always sported a K.C. royals sticker, even during the down times,(all the time). That old girl just quit running on me i sure wish someone could have put in a new motor and cleaned her up so she could run again.............

Bobby, I don't think that's the same fan. The one in your pic has 5 blades.

I am sure if this fan had 5 blades, it would have gone in a jiffy.

In my heart of hearts, I feel this post should be stickied to the top permanently. This post is what has me coming back to the free things only section to browse. It puts me to tears from laughing. It really does cheer up a bad day with a re-read.

Sorry TRZ

I hope nobody gives away the secret spot where the fan is, or everybody will be hooging it, and somebody else will whine that the best spots are always given away. My guess is this fan is located in MN and is giving off some cool air.

Are people attracted to fans as bad as they are to bouys? Maybe have to start setting out dummy fans... tongue.gif

The fan was thrown in a dumpster behind Cub. It either went to the garbage burning facility or is in a land fill. Either way it is gone. I bought one a couple weeks ago (after I could not get a response back form owner of fan) and paid about $6.oo for a new one.

It sure is keeping me cool now and exhausting fumes out of my garage at same time. !

The way TRZ talked about the fan, one would think he is a fan pimp! grin.gif

Heartattack caught on....It was supposed to be a play on the many posts where you aren't supposed to give away honey holes. If somebody lets out the whereabouts of the fan, the whole forum and anybody that just reads the forum will be there hogging all the cool air and not doing C&R.

i did finally let the fan go to a better place aka "fan heaven". i was able to pry off the unicorn sticker for my new fan but the poor roayals sticker is in about the same position as the team=SOL . Too bad somebody sure could have stayed cool during this hot dry summer, it was great for blowing dust as well....... grin.gif

The fan is in "fan heaven" cooling St. Peter and pushing all the rain away from here so we can fish and people can rebuild from the flooding.

once it cools down you could always use the fan to blow warm air up from the warm basement. It would help save on heating costs!!! Low and behold there was a year-round use for this fan! I am sure others didn't realize it before it was left at those GPS cords!!!

The mouth of the creek is quite a ways downstream from the landing, and you’ll have to cross several peoples’ docks. Entire stream is surrounded by private property. Sure, you can technically legally access the stream, but why would you want to bother with the headache of dealing with landowners that DON’T want you there? Stream is small enough to step across in most places, it’s very weedy, and lot’s of overhanging brush. Not to mention, below average at best numbers of small trout!   You want easy access? Buy a Wisconsin license! Right across the river in Pierce County alone, there’s hundreds of miles of public easements on trout streams that are ten times better than anything Minnesota has to offer!

Pike suckers are about 3½ inches long.  Walleyes really like them in the fall and early winter.  Caught my fish in 13-15 FOW drifting slowly.  Good solid bites.

Got up Thursday evening to rain and pretty heavy wind Friday morning had us holding off on putting the boat in the water. Fished briefly Friday evening at sunset and picked up an 18" and a couple smalls. Fishing was decent Saturday morning but no real size, everything was 12-15". I had one that looked to be 17"ish flop off as I was trying to flip it into the boat. All the fish we caught were in 17-22'. We were fishing around about a 6' top but never caught anything on top. They appeared to be relating to the structure but not actually on it. Tried again Saturday evening for a couple hours and continued to pick up small walleye just like the morning. Sunday was windy again but we decided to slug it out for awhile and caught one decent perch and one small walleye. We fished similar depths and spots as Saturday but they weren't there. Marked them out in 35'+ but didn't feel like fighting the wind out in the big water so we called it quits around noon and never went back out(the wind never really did lay down or we may have tried again). Jig/minnow way outfished bottom bouncers/crawlers. Wish bottom bouncers would have worked better because it was tough to keep a jig down as fast as we were drifting and we never found a school to spot lock on.

I am heading up there tomorrow.  Where do you guys get minnows up in the area?  Tower or Cook or down in Virginia?  I have never heard of pike suckers?  How large are they?  Are you guys fishing the East or West side of the lake?  Let me know.  I am thinking of fishing the East side tomorrow and then headed to the west side from Thursday thru Sunday.  Any help would be appreciated?  I am a newby to the area.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!
