Wild in the playoff's

This is going to be one of the toughest series I think the Wild have ever encountered. All these games are going to be 1 goal games with both goalies having stellar performances. Backstrom is going to have to shine against a very good Ducks team. The biggest factor is going to be lines 2, 3 and 4 for the Wild. You know when Gaborik and Demitra are on the ice Pronger and Niedermeyer will be their shadows all series long. My prediction- Wild in 5.

I'd like to see it go 6 games. I've got tickets for game 6 and it falls on a day that I don't have to work. Should be a good series...

Tougher then beating the Avalanche and Canucks a couple of years back, I'm not so sure this is as tough.

I do like your prediction though. I also think the Wild will beat them.

What about them game times, they are terrible.

I can't wait for the 1st game, gonna be hard to stay up and watch the whole thing. I am just glad they made the playoff's and they will take us on another ride like they did in 2003 but they will go to the finals against NJ.

Game times are to accomodate television...these games have to be late enough to not compete with earlier east-coast games.

I remember the playoff run a few years back...a lot of late nights (games in Vancouver) and being tired for days because of it...

The TV schedule sucks for me...living in South Dakota, I don't get Channel 45. FSN does not simulcast the Wild games that are on 45. They will do that with the Twins games; maybe they will do it with the Wild playoff games. But if there is a Twins game on FSN, I certainly won't get the Wild game.

Tough loss for the Wild last night. I did not agree with the last goal at all. The ref should of blew the whislte when Backstrom had the puck under his glove and all the players on top of him. After watching last nights game this is going to be one tough series for the Wild.

dont expect to see too many games thanks to the deal with versus. Maybe CBC will carry the games if they play a Canadien team.

It sure is nice not being able to watch the games. You support this team all year long and when they finally make it to the play-offs you can't watch them. I know I live in a smaller town but you would think there would be a bar that would show it. They just opened up a new Sport's Bar here in Hibbing and you would think the new owner would be promoting business by advertising drink specials and The Minnesota Wild in the play-offs. What a joke!!! I'm so happy I pay $65.00 per month to sit and watch four or five channel and out of them channel they don't even have the your home states hockey games on. It just really ticked me off to have to sit and watch the EX North Stars play Van. and listen to my home team play on the radio. Sure glad I get to go to the metro for work next week so at least I can watch a game.

What is posted on the wild website is that the NHL accidently blocked out the NHL package on Direct Tv. So if you were outside the 50 mile radius of the Cities you didn't get to support your team anywhere.

In reading an article this morning I see Channel 45 had one of the largest viewers watching reports for a sporting event as of 4/11/07 "The WILD game. No brainers!!! Guess I will have to watch the game tonight just like in the old days. Stare at the radio. Since there is no work tomorrow might just have to build a fire and tip some Peva's too. Go WILD!!!!

The Ducks are just a better team. Nothing to be ashamed of. They had a good run. Maybe next year, but they need some bigger D

Little bit off topic here but how well is Bouchard being paid? He has got to arguably be one of the best corner men in the league. Really enjoy watching how often he comes out of the scrum with the puck.

I am not sure, but I thought they still have a game to play. They have won more than 4 in a row this year. All have been one goal games. Havent had a puck bounce their way yet maybe the next 4 games they will. Jump back on the band wagon and wait until it is completely done before you give up.

I love your optimism. I just look at reality. Have the Wild even been ahead yet? We have not even seen Anaheim when they need to "turn up" their forecheck. The way they cycle/ keep control of the puck in the opponents zone is amazing. They are bigger, faster, and stronger. They will win the cup.......

Minnesota isnt done yet....They do need to do some work in the off season to beef up a little more on D. Anaheim does have the best D team in the league I believe. Which means they may only win games by one goal. Same way New Jersey used to be when they had the best D team.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
