Yanks are hitting about .400 I think. They are going to win a lot of games this year, despite their pitching injuries. Bottom half of the Twins line-up better get going real soon. Way too many guys hitting sub .200 right now. That don't get it done when we have mediocre starting pitchers.

they stunk the place up last year the first month of the season then they got rolling and became central division champs. I wouldnt give up on the starters yet yankees lineup is solid id be more concerned about the twins lack of batting and or patience at the plate.

Still early in the season. I think one of the pitchers sent to AAA will be called up in 2 months if not sooner. I think Gardy and Ryan will give the veterans the benefit of the doubt and give them a few starts and see what happens. Lots of fundamental mistakes happening by position players. Bartlett has too many errors, and it seems like Cuddy is always close to making some baserunning blunder. Our bats are off to a slow start. Yankees made us look like a their college team byatch. I think Yanks will sweep us this time around.

You guys need to be careful...you're going to pull a hamstring jumping on and off the bandwagon here.

Two bad games, and the roof is caving in? This is the team that swept their opening series, with three strong pitching performances. They split two games on the road in Chicago - and had two more strong starting pitching performances.

Now they have two bad starts...against a very, very good hitting team...and you can practically sense everyone thinking that the season is on the verge of collapse.

Ponson had a bad start. Bonser has had one decent and one bad start (and inconsistency, by the way, is what you tend to get from young starting pitchers). Everyone else has had one good start, and in Santana's case, two good starts.

Let's see where the Twins are at on Sunday night, after the four-game series against Tampa Bay.

After those two games against the Yanks I can only think of my cousin Eddie, the one from Vegas Vacation...Come on Geno, you know what his quote is going to be....

"I ain't seen a beatin like that since they put a banana down my shorts and turned a monkey loose"!

Guys, Its the Yankees, THey should be this good. Look at the cap situation. They are suppose to be the best team in the league. You have to understand that.

Twins are going to be ok. I feel they are going to be in the top 2 for the central.

Long season... can't win them all..No excuses, looking bad against the Yanks. By September who will remember.. Everyone wins 50 and everyone losses 50 it is the other games that matter grin.gif

I didn't see Boof pitch last night but did get to see Sid the other night . Couldn't help but thinking that a lot of his pitches were pretty good and if he could settle in and relax he might be OK . He didn't that night but I think with a few more starts and some dag nubit run support he could win a few . Santana doesn't usually get to mid season form until well .... midseason - so lets settle down a game a game or ten , lets these guys get some time in and hope it comes together . It will .

I realize it is still early but Ortiz is starting to convince me that he might be a worthy starter. grin.gifsmirk.gif

Nice game by Ortiz tonight. He can be at least a good innings-eater in the middle of the rotation. Let's see how Silva does tomorrow...he has a chance to be the same...an effective innings eater in the middle of the order.

NOW THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT.

He pitched awesome. It was nice to see that the team picked him up at the end of the game, with hitting the ball around the park.

Awesome game.

Philth,

Got to agree with you, that there is funny and I don't care who you are, Lord forgive me...........

Interesting side note, I was talking to one of my clients today up in Spooner, Wisconsin and he started talking about being in Vegas watching his son in law perform, I asked him who it was as I frequent Sin City quite a bit myself and he told me that it was the one and only LARRY THE CABLE GUY! He said that he is really a good guy and he is the same as he appears on his show, a fun loving good ole boy. Small world (though I wouldn't want to paint it)

Nice job by Ortiz last night guys and it was great seeing Farnsworth get lit up. Enjoyed flipping back and forth between that game and the Dice K Red Sox game. That Felix Hernandez that pitches for Seattle is flat out filthy, one hit allowed. My cards are coming off a nice 5-1 road trip but in cardinal nation were all hoping that Carpenter get's well quick, been very impressed with the starters picking up the slack. Izzy is back on track and the bull pen is strenghtening but we need Carp. Pujols has been hitting like crap and Kennedy hasn't found his stroke yet either, even Rolen being out the last couple of starts they still seem to get-r-done. Big series against the Brew Crew starting tomorrow hopefully Reyes will stop dancing around the strikezone and start going after hitters like he did in the world series against Detroit.

I think that the Twins will show more success when they can get into the other team's bullpen.

I was at the game last night. Wow did Ortiz pitch great. The only thing that I don't like is that he threw eight innings and had about 90 pitches. Let him pitch the ninth. Up by Four runs - non save situation, let him pitch. He was on fire.

How about the play Jeter made - the running catch over his head. Like him or not, he can play ball.

They wanted nathan to pitch becuase he was a few days long since he threw before. I understand where your coming from, where it would have been nice to see him throw a complete game.

No its not a save! Joe needed some playing time. And ortiz was sitting awhile, they did the right thing, like it or not. One doesnt see to many complete games anymore. I wanted to see him get a complete game, but gardy does know what he is doing!

Nice to see a win in a Ponson start to even out the Santana loss.

BEWARE! The pilot has just turned off the "NO JUMPING ON THE SIR SIDNEY BANDWAGON" sign! shocked.gif

He pitched ok last night. When he left the ball up, is when he got into some trouble. Just like anyone else would i guess.

It was nice to see Cuddy and Hunter hit the ball around the park last night. Hope they can keep it up.

I thought last nights game was great. Ortiz kept the ball down and our hitters were dublin all over the park. I predict a win tonight over Hernandez with Morneau getting a homer off him.

Go Twinz!

Call it a "save" tonight, but what percentage of Nathan's outs this year have been on the basepaths? Got to the point that watching Castillo "set up" under those popups isn't the most nerve-wracking part of the night. Another 'W' but sure have been some crazy games.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
