Click on my home. Its in the middle of the line of things right above the forum posts. Click edit personal prefs and in there will be a section labeled avatar. Instructions are there on how to link a photo to be your avatar.

It Needs to be a certain size... what type of program do you have on your computer? You can resize in the paint program and then post on a photo posting site such as photobucket

you can also upload it to photobucket then resize it in...

It does have to come from a hosting site. You can't link it from your desktop.

I don't think you can do that. I haven't seen anyone with pics under their screen name that I remember.

This does work, and not everyone has avatars to look at, but quite a few do. If you cannot see any of them ever, you have to turn on the function in the My Home/Display Pref Edit page at the bottom. Choose Yes to the view other users pictures in their profiles question.

1)Go to a site like photobucket or imageshack and go throught the proceedure to upload the picture you want from your computer, resized to around max 109x150 size, and get the info for it. Highlight, Right click and "Copy" the thumbnail address that starts with "http//:".

2)In FM Forums, Go to "My Home" above in the line started by "Welcome, *****."

3)Edit your personal info.

4)Scroll down and click on the "url to your avatar"

5)In the area allowed, Right click and "Paste" the copied line.

6)Submit and look to see if it came up. If not, try again.

I prefer Latin for my Dead Language, anyways. That picture by KDawg's name is called an avatar. I can't help you if you don't say which specific parts you are having issues with. Have you tried going to one of these photo posting sites and uploading one of your pictures?

As posted above, the first step is to open an account at an image hosting site like Photo Bucket. Once you have opened an account, which by the way is free, you can send, or upload, your photos to Photo Bucket. What this allows you to do is post those photos on the internet.

So first off, do a search for Photo Bucket and open an account. Photo Bucket will give you easy to follow instruction for uploading images/photos.

Just as prints from a standard 35mm camera come in different sizes, ie: 3"x5" or 4"x6", so do the photos you have stored on your computer. The size of the photos are given in pixels, ie: 200x200 or 480x600, which really isn't that important as long as you understand that most photos are too large to be used as an avatar.

The largest size image you can use as an avatar on this site is 109x150. So you have to resize your photo to 109x150 or smaller.

I personally resize my photos with a photo software before I upload them to Photo Bucket, but I guess Photo Bucket offers you the option to resize your photos on they're site.

keeps saying wrong picture type? on photot bucket, I get 2 or 3 different URL's? which do I use?

I used imageshack, but try each of the 3 different types from photobucket. Mine starts with "http://"; don't use anything in [] brackets. It sounds like you are most of the way there, and it took me a couple of tries to get the correct file type. You're close!

Use the one that says url link. Copy it and the paste it in personal preferences. You will see were it says url link to avatar. Click on that button, paste the url link in the text box then click sobmit at the bottom of the page.

If your using photobucket, the URL you want to use is this one: click on the picture you want to use. Resize to avatar size. On the bottom right of the page shoule be a series of websites. The one that has worked for me is the one labled Forums and Bulletin boards. The only thing is, after you paste the address, be sure to delete the %7Boption%7D. I think thats all.

I'm pretty sure if you delete the img off photobucket it wont show up. You have to leave the img in your photo album.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?
    • LakeofthewoodsMN
On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭
    • Rick G
Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
