The SWANSONG for the ice season

What an awesome weekend to wrap up the season. 60+ degrees, no shirt and wearing shorts and jumbo perch. I saw nobody else on Pokegama all weekend. A wheeler or 2 go by, but that was it. Why wasn't anybody out there enjoying the late ice (at least in the general vicinity that we were)?

I'm now consumed by open water thoughts and ready to convert to different gear.

I was at LOW on Friday and the Bowstring area for the weekend. Awesome weather.

how were conditions on Bowstring? how about the bite, might try it this weekend

The ice on Bowstring was fine. No problems anywhere although it is getting saturated. It depends on how the accesses hold up unless you have another way to get on. We got some crappies Saturday dawn and dusk but didn't get them like expected. Saturday dusk the school definitely moved through the area in 10-15 minutes. We were going from hole to hole trying to keep up with them. I wished we would have found where they stopped. During the day on Saturday we went looking for perch and caught about 20. Sunday dawn with the fog was great for using the gps. It kept a lot of people off the lake for the early bite which didn't happen.
