Just read on the NFL sports network ticker Green just signed with the Houston Texans.Do the Pack have someone else to run the ball for them?

Good question? Can't believe they got rid of Green, Godo, and Davenport in the last year. That leaves Morency-sp I guess. Some people have the Pack taking a RB with there fisrt pick. Have to wait and see.

Technically Ran, the pack didn't get rid of Green, he was a UFA (Unstricted Free Agent) so he could talk to any team he wished to play for or whatever team was offereing him the best contract. I am suprised that the Packers didn't put the franchise tag on him to keep him in Green Bay. But then there could be conflict between the player and the organization just like in Chicago right now with LB Lance Briggs and the Bears organization. Sounds like Briggs is one pissed of guy right now with the Bears placing the franchise tag on him to keep him in Chicago, but he wants to play elsewhere it sounds, so he is asking for a trade.

bluegills, getting rid of him by not giving him a new contract- same thing. He's pretty worn down anyway. I think it was the right move.

If the Pack would have franchised him and didn't get a long term deal worked out he would have been guarenteed 6.99 million next year. WAY TOO MUCH for a 30 year old back who isn't what he used to be. Also, he was looking for a 4 year deal and the Packers didn't want to go that far out. We are very thin at RB right now, but I think we will take care of that in the draft, free agency, or maybe even a trade.

Yup, a great player who loved being a Packer, never complained, went about business quietly and got the job done. No doubt he will be in the Packer's HOF. That said, the organization probably made the right move, or non-move, as it were. It just wouldn't have been smart to re-sign him to a multi-year deal in the range of what he was looking for. He is getting up there, and this, combined with his repaired quad and asthma, prevented him from lining up for more than 2 snaps in a row.

Good luck Ahman, and I hope you prove the Packers wrong!

I can maybe see them signing Jamal Lewis if the price is cheap enough or maybe even Travis Henry which would be more of an ideal back for the Packers offense, can catch out of the backfield.

Henry has signed with Denver, so that option is no longer.

I guess when you fumble the ball alot, you don't complain about still getting carries.

One year it was his elbow pads. Then he changed them, fumbles stopped. Then it was his elbow pads the next year. He forgot I guess.

Then it was hayfever the next season. He took some Clariton and the ball stuck in his arms better because he wasn't wiping snot off his face.

Last season he didn't fumble because Brett Favre asked him not to. That guy's pretty influential. Maybe he should ask himself to not throw the ball on a rainbow and watch it get picked off.

Ok now, UJ....not a Favre fan are you?

This just in: Favre has asked that UJ not post any negative comments about him (and since he is so influential......)

Nyuk, nyuk.

No, actually, I like Favre. And his bullet passes (though I would NOT wanna be at the other end of one)

I am also happy he is coming back for another season. I actually like that he's not afraid to throw the ball up for grabs, makes for entertaining football.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
