Not sure about Ivanhoe, but I've been through there a number of times while going to SDSU and there's some great territory around there. Good luck Tom!

One day while leaving my grandparents farm from lunch during deer hunting there were 9 roosters all sitting there on the back side of his grove. Wish I would have bought a pheasant stamp! frown.gif

I just hunted the Ivanhoe area for 5 days. Lincoln county has tons of birds, but they have been hit hard. The bird numbers are noticably less than 3 weeks ago, and many of them are buried deep in the cattails. We saw more birds in Lyon and Yellow Medicine counties. I attribute this to less hunting pressure this year. Wait until the sloughs freeze up, and its on.

From what I have been told is the thicker cover and cattails are the place to be.I talked to my nephew this morning and he said the Marshall area where he lives is also very good, you just need to hit the heavy cover to find the grouped up birds.

We noticed more birds this year in northern Lyon county while we were harvesting. My father in law scared up a group of 20 some birds out of the corn field. They are around!

I have family south of Marshall about 20 miles and when we were home for deer opener I couldn't beleive the number of birds. Almost felt like I was back in South Dakota. Hope you have a good and safe hunt.

We hunted the area south of Marshall around lake Marshall and had a great time .The weather and company was great. The birds were hanging mostly in the heavy cover and flushed far ahead of us.The birds won today, but a good time was had.

Don't feel bad about Lake Marshall because it gets pounded. When I went to school in Marshall this spot was my first stop just like many other people. This time of year you have to catch them in front feeding or try to get in the thick crap and get a shot.

Around the Slayton/Avoca area there are still tons of birds around. Most of them are still in the thick stuff like cattails.

Last nights freezing rain may have moved them. I don't know.

Tom, I hit that area yesterday. There were lots of birds around. They were a little spooky with the wind. We found the outside the cats but they run into them every time. We could follow the dogs in, the ice was plenty solid in the smaller marshes.

If you want to email me I will send you the names of the wma's we did best at

Drove by Elysian on my way home this afternoon. Shoreline didn’t appear to be pulling away, view from the highway for what it’s worth.

Got the property surveyed today. Originally plotted back in 1968 and sure enough there where metal pipes marking 3 of the corners but who knows how long it would have taken me to find them. They placed a monument on the missing corner. Hopefully this warm weather sticks around, need to remove some trees and get the wheel house moved in. Thanks everyone for your responses!

Was out on the lake today. Easy 24-26" inches of hard ice yet.

Drove around the entire lake today. From the road it looks like the warm weather has melted most of the snow. Only saw about a half dozen people fishing. Ice isn’t pulling away from shore yet. Stopped at the Borden access and walked out a bit, kicked myself for not bringing the fishing equipment, easy travel out there.

interesting day fishing on 30 inches and 60 degrees out   no monsters but got a very round hybrid and some rock bass with neat eyes.

Plastic PC is 3/4 x2 x3.5. Drilled shallow holes on the transom side for the adhesive to cling to. Pretty solid. Time will tell

No shutoff needed. Take a photo of how you mounted your transducer Alex.

Actually when I store the boat I take the unit off as well. Is it ok to have the power line just hanging out? Do I need a shut off switch?
