I know in Michigan it's NOT leagal to shot them I think they need to be 25%brown to leagally harvest on Albino.

i heard once that it was iLLegal to shoot albinos but idon't think ihave come accross anyting in the regs is this true in MN. Sweet pics none the less. ike

Albinos are not protected in MN, however I am pretty sure they are in Wisconsin. People kinda keep sightings hush hush because it has proved to draw poachers!!!(at least in WI)

You are right I asked the DNR this question about a squirrel. Albinos are not protected in MN in any way.

They are protected in that you can only take them during open season with a valid license. From a regulatory perspective, they're the same as brown deer.

Great pics guys. I know I would not hesitate to pull the trigger on either of them with a valid license. I guess I should check the SD regs to see if they are protected here at all.

Cool pics. I have heard of guys shooting albinos, I know that it doesn't go over very well with the locals who like to look at these obscure genetically flawed animals. They become like pets because everyone knows THAT deer. If you ever pull the trigger on one, be ready to take some heat.

True albino's have no pigment, we all know this. It looks to me like a regular white tail deer that’s just all white. Just like the gray squirrels that are black.

Great pics thanks for sharing. Boy would that make a cool mount. I wouldn't have a problem pulling the trigger on a beatifull dear like that. Typically albino deer have a much shorter life span than your common deer. They loose their eye sight early in life and eventually starve to death or make easy targets for coyotes. To let a trophy like that be wasted by yotes or starvation would be a shame.

Scumfrog, I don't think that deer has any pigment.... Look again. Pink eyes, ears and hoofs would back that up. It looks like a true albino to me.

The first set of pictures is an albino, but the 2 runny across the street is a what deer. He has black eyes.

Just read the paper. A guy was tagged with a $300 fine for shooting a mature albino buck (nice 8 point I believe) in Clam Falls, WI. The DNR also confiscated the buck. He said he knew albinos were protected. Seems like it's not enough punishment for knowingly shooting a protected animal. His excuse was, he was shooting into the sun and couldn't I.D. it and he thought there was a small patch of brown on it's head which would make it a legal piebald deer; but with the pink eyes and ears and nose and white hooves it would've definitley been an easy I.D. as an albino.

Just another article in the media to make hunters look like gun hungry, shoot 'em up 1st... I.D. them second cowboys, running around the woods. Seems Guys are always so worried about filling a deer tag that they will do just about anything legal or not. And I believe it's getting worse every year. Trespassing on the land I hunt has gotten worse, to the point where part of each day is spent by a member of the party patrolling the property lines. Thier excuse is usually "I shot at a deer and I'm trying to see if I hit it." or their stands are set-up 5' over the line and they claim they aren't shooting at deer off the county land, even after a member of our party caught a guy shooting at one on our posted land. He still denied it.

I'm not so worried about the loss of this one Albino Buck, but rather the lack of ethics that is permeating throughout the sport of hunting.
