Northlander, I Would be interested in coming.
Sorry we didn't quite hook up this weekend. When you stopeed by heading out fishing, we were having first cocktails of the day. Mrs. Ended up T_ts up fairly early. I was wathing tv with the lights out. I heard someone talking to the neighbors, but thought it was their guests. Sorry. I am volunteering to grill for you. You you don't miss out on all the festivities. I have hosted many outdoor golf outings, grilling for a few hundred people, and have cooked at the gun club every week for 10 years for 10 people. There is my resume (haha). It would be my pleasure.

Thanks for the invite Steve. I wish I could make it. I have to stick close to home this weekend otherwise I would likely wander down to soup town.

Happy Birthday!

I wish I could make it, but I actually have a full weekend of fishing lined up for once!
Catfish on the Minnesota down in Shakopee on Saturday. Trout and Smallmouth on the Gunflint Sunday through Tuesday. Hope you have a good weekend and a nice turn out. If you want, I can announce your suarez and address on the air! Kidding........

Go have a blast you work too hard as it is.
Hey I was thinking we would do another Lake Cleanup soon or maybe a car wash and donate the $ to a kids fishing program someplace or another good cause if someone knows one. It would be great PR for FM and all fisherpeople. Can ya give us a little PR on that when we do it?

Posted

I promise no mentions!! As far as PR....absolutely. If I find the time, I would volunteer too!

Cool Jason thanks a lot!

Steve, how late do you think your party will run. I have a busy day and not sure if I'll get there. You know I have to try the pond in the morning smile.gif I really enjoyed chatting with you the other day. I hope you liked the tour. The gift you brought me is all cleaned up and mounted on the boat. Will you be happy or cry when it catchs that 33" walleye tomorrow smile.gif Did you stay home today and take care bussiness or did you sneak down to the river? One more thing, A guy who is on my pool team works down at the boys & girls club in Superior. He said theres quite a few kids there that want to get out fishing but don't have anyone to take them. I was hoping to get a couple out this summer but haven't yet. I would have to talk to Courtey there and see, maybe we could get some boats together and make a day of taking some kids fishing. Its something I've wanted to do for awhile. I have a feeling we might have some people on here that would like to help. Let me know what you think. Thanks

Outdoor ran thats a great idea. I could get 2 in my boat. I also was thinking of a car wash to raise $ for a good kids group. The Boys and Girls club sounds like a good one.
Who is interested in volenteering time for this if I set it up?
Sat home and got set for the party tomorrow. Hope its like it was today! Im Praying for good weather!
Thanks for the tour that was awesome! I may have to get that 32" eye mounted. If you catch a 33" eye on that rigger I better get a great picture of it! grin.gif Party will go till 1 or 2 am if its good weather and anything like the last 9 years.

All I can say is I'm sorry, really I am sorry I missed out on the good time. I got caught up in memories. Had my 10 year reunion tonight and thought that I would sneak out between outings. Boy was I wrong. Nothing like seeing alot of people you havent seen in 10 years. Hell of a time. Boy have I changed and they are all the same. Steve I might bring mr. Yag out for your Bday on league night, any opposition? I can't wait to meet the rest of you all though. The day will come when I can put it all together. Steve, I will be pre fishing minana~. You gonna be on? Hail me I'll have the radio on. I'll be up around 4.
Happy B-day...... grin.gif

Yeah, big 10-4 there. I'm up at 4:44. Not sure if it is all the brats from last night, the trip planned for the big lake this morning or the thunder out there that will keep me from going. Thanks for the gathering. Give a big thanks to your lady for putting the eats on the table together.

lota lota (standing by with boat hitched if the thunder ever stops)...

Real nice party Steve, thanks for having us over. Quite a selection of food and drink. You and our wife did a bang up job again. Leila and I had a very nice time and the kids had a ball.

lotalota, nice talking with ya. I was up early to. Don't know if it was the thunder or the 3 jalapeño brauts and that chip dip I ate that woke me up.
Tim, Dory, Tom and Poutslayer, good to see you again. Tim no I didn't get the recipe for the bars, I should have grabbed a handful for the ride home. Viking, it was nice meeting you, see ya next Sunday.
Cheffrey sorry you couldn't make it but its totally understandable. I went to my 20 year reunion and wild horses couldn't have dragged me away.

Well it was another fantastic time! Thanks to all who came and those who came with gifts thanks a lot! Total we had over 70 people. With all the food, drink and conversation it seemed like it only lasted a hour. We finally put out the fire about 1:30am and was going to hit the lake about 5am but with the storm the pillow called me back. grin.gif
did get out for a couple hours on the river so all is good. Boy was the river muddy from the rain. Had to run above the Blatnik to get clearer water. Eyes were in 14-17' on channel edges until about 8pm then caught a few long lining some Walleye Divers in 9'. Biggest 19" but its all good wqhen your catching fish on a full belly! grin.gif
See everyone next year for the 11th annual. Hope we get weather like yesterday!

I think it all helps to create motion and confusion to keep their attention away from the blinds.  The hurricanes seemed pretty important though.  6 of them per spread and moved around dependent on wind direction.  Some tall silo socks mixed in with them too.  Kill hole in the middle with a few decoys clustered over the e call.  That was about 25 yards from the blinds.  7-8 batteries to run everything.  2000 decoys per spread.   I wasn’t the shot caller.  We were taking them at about 40 yards on average but I believe we could’ve gotten a lot of them feet down.  We all remember the single Ross’ that broke off from a group of snows hovering at 100+ yards and took the elevator all the way down to its demise.  The shot was called just before it lit but we were all sure if it was left alone, the audience above would’ve joined.  It was mesmerizing to watch to watch how much they work a spread without flapping their wings much.   These pics were waiting for them to come down closer.  They did.

Never hunted conservation season. Actually get birds feet down or longer shots? I've been running battery operated flappers but does the rotary machine really help?
