World Series Predictions

I am a "homer." My Tigers will lose game one, due partially to the layoff. After that, we win four of the next five. Tigers in six.

I'll take Detroit, but you never know what will happen. St. Louis also has a good pitching staff and they have Big Al.

Detroit in 6 or 7.

Toss up! Pick 'em!

This was one tough choice -- well rested, hungry, solid season-long team with lots of strengths against the tired, old, battered, barely .500 win pct.

Could be real easy for me to watch this series without anyone to root against, although I am partial to not seeing the Tigers erase the memory of their flop into 2nd place.

Somebody else put it like "I don't really give a poop".

Maybe I do. Maybe I don't.

A definite maybe..........

The Tigers in 5-6 games would make a lot of sense after seeing the results of the interleague games this year.

The "paper" results don't always pan out, though, as we saw in the AL central this year. I still think the Tigers will take it though, with Leyland on the bench. One thing is a SURE THING... the winner will come from the central division, and that is AWESOME!!!!!!

Kitties in six, but the Cards won't embarrass themselves. I predict some more of those dang 2-0 and 3-1 games.

What a performance by the kid Anthony Reyes and Rolen's heating up. Thank you Lord were not going to get swept!

Thank you Detroit thank you! Were not going to lose in 3 wink.gif

Hard to lose a 7 game series in 3! ha Detroit looked still in "vacation" mode. If they don't wake up, it'll be a quick series . I don't think Leyland will allow them to " rest on there larels" for more than one game, though. We'll see.

It's that National League domination thing. That's what is going on here people. Even Windy and Buzz can probably see the tide turning. grin.gif

Sure like the way Leyland got most all of his bullpen into the game. Not one run allowed by the pen. They are ready now. Ugly weather for game two.

Game 2 sure looked like Tiger ball. Kenny Roger's control is just unreal right now. Who's up next for the Cards? Carp or Suppan?

RJ - Don't know much about Bonderman but I will say this your getting our version of Detroits Kenny Rogers tonight in Jeff Suppan. Jeff's been money in the post season, period. This is a pivotal game and a must win for you guys. Good luck tonight...

PierBridge just hit on why this game is great. No matter how bad you played yesterday you can right the ship. Tigers best get to hitting the ball. Pitched pretty well. Errors and runs scored cannot be equal. We caught it well all year long. Tonight is as close to a must win as you'll ever see.

Are you worried CNY?

Looks like the Kitties have you right where they want you. If you look at what the Cards did the last time they were up 3-1 at the Big Dance. LOL Just kidding, I'll take 3-1 anyday, except if you can be 3-0 like another team that played about a year ago!!! Finish the dance at home and get ready to party with the prom queen, you don't want to have to celebrate in Motown. Windy

As a lot of us were saying, this series should be over in six or less........ smile.gif

Cards look good, but that really shouldn't shock anybody that has been watching the playoffs. What I can't believe is all the fielding errors by the Tiger pitchers. Setting the new series record in game four is unbelievable.

What can I say guys??? Somebody pinch me please, the nightmare of a regular season collapse is forgotten. Eck, Scotty, Yadi, Miles, Wilson (nice defensive sliding catch and clutch 2 out rbi to give them there first lead) and the Whip (Adam Wainright) all deserve a game ball. If Weaver can give us what he did in Game 2 the Budweiser will taste oh so sweet. I can't wait for tonight! The fans deserve this after the sweep of 2004. It's our turn to do the deed at home. What a game last night. If I'm Tony were bunting at there pitchers every chance we got, I mean what the heck you might as well keep going to the well if here gonna keep giving up that kind of charity. I think it's a mistake to go with Verlander tonight they should go with Rogers he's a seasoned Vet that could give there staff a big boost with a game 5 win going back to Detroit, will see how she plays but it will be rabid in St. Louis tonight if they can get the game in, checking the weather babe next.

I know, I know - it's the same for everybody.

But I really despise bad weather having any kind of impact.

All I can say is that the Tigers look like the Twins when we played the A's!! Sloppy as can be!! The bottom line is that Detroit is giving this series away and St. Louis will gladly accept the gift. grin.gif

Anybody hear from Backherup?? aka... Andyman???? Maybe he can slap some detroit wisdom down on us.

I just read this from ESPN:

ST. LOUIS -- To the tens of baseball fans who are watching the lowest-rated World Series in history , hang in there. It's almost over.

Only nine innings and one more victory separate the St. Louis Cardinals from their first World Series championship since 1982 ... and the Detroit Tigers from a long, painful offseason of watching Tom Emanski instructional fielding videos. And if the expected downpours take a breather, that championship could come as early as Friday evening.

Tigers are pitching well enough to win. Can't believe the bad play in the field. It's like they've never been in a World Series before . All we gotta do is play better, and continue to pitch. We won seven in a row, against some pretty good teams, to get here. Some of the Cards "timely" hits were on balls not played well by Tiger defenders. Good to see some bats show up last night.

Go Tigers.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
