Has anybody fishing the lake out of TH latley??If so what depths and what area>>>later the load

Posted

I was there last weekend and fished for three days, but the wind kept me on the breakwater. The boats that I did see fishing out of the harbor were on the humps about due south from the breakwater's end and along the front of the wall in the 125 foot range. I took two dandies off the wall casting but cannot say how the boats did. I saw more boats going further up the shore (SilverBay?) on trailers and saw very few boats out of TH compared to other years at this time.

ST....4.4 and 10.95 pound lakers. 4 pounder came to the second cast. Larger one fifteen minutes later. Both off the inside of the wall. The 4 came at the elbow, the 10 at the end but on the inside.....almosting cast back to the center dock. Gold and orange, silver and orange. Both colors were spinners, cast, let sink to bottom and slow retrieve. The four took the spinner before it even got down twenty feet and swam off with it. I could not figure out why I had to let out so much line to get down in that area and then it dawn on me that the line wasn't even where the cast landed. I saw quite a few herring in there too that morning, but only had follows so I down-sized the spinner to my silver/orange and followed the school up the wall and that was when I got the larger fish. The wind was fickle and had the harbor messed up bad. The ore boats stirred everything up on the bottom and the wind kept the ugly water inside the wall and that water which did get out seemed to come right down the outside wall. The staining seemed unusually heavy for some reason. Saturday morning and early afternoon were the only times I had water that I thought I could fish with any hope for success. I couldn't get as much as a follow on the other "usual" hardware we toss, but given what was dealt I felt that the trip was a success. Next trip that I am sure of is the first weekend in August. I'll be in touch.
