Hi All - We're camping at Gooseberry over the 4th and am looking to see if anyone has been fishing up there lately and what the conditions are like. If anyone can help, I'd be much obliged!

Hey Buffalofisher, I haven't fished the Gooseberry but I've been in the area recently. The streams have come down and cleared up substantially. They are near summer norms.

Upstream on the Gooseberry you should be able to find some stream trout. Be stealthy and please consider releasing most (or all) of your catch.

If you're pursuing loopers I talked to a guy who saw one patrolling the shoreline (right by his waders) up there on Monday. So yes, there are fish to be caught.

I just fished the upper Goose this past Sunday and the fishing was great!!! Caught, what I thought to be some nice brookies...my largest was 13". I also had the whole river to myself...didn't see another soul, it was great. Good luck and let us know how you do.
