hey, hows it goin?

Got a quick question for ya.
Im going to brule for the 4th. We usually go every year for memorial weekend. We stay in echo bay and fish that bay and in the main lake but only to the 1st couple islands. I have the eyes and smallies pretty patterned down for memorial weekend time frame.
But dont know if it will be the same in july?

if ya have any tips for brule on where a guy has a good chance on the eyes and presentations, id appreciate it.

Also If you know a better lake to try in that area. we have a 78 year old and a disabled guy with and portages must be kept minimal. Such as we have went into north cone, and echo lake. so portages shouldnt be any longer than north cone.

Thanks for any info you could share..
later...

Hey Beav - It's goin good smile.gif, hows it goin with you?

Sorry I can not help you my friend, I have never been to Brule either.

Maybe by tommorow I will have enough energy in me to post up a full report on
Basswood. Maybe Leaky or ST will beat me to it.

Here is a short report: I managed to CPR a 27" walleye grin.gif. Frank Jr. came in second with a 24"er. We all caught some nice fish and had a blast.

Its going great,
Had my back surgery march 29 and feel like a new person. that is till i started pullin a condom in the big lake.

Fishin has been phenominal for kitties here.
Sunday I caught a 17lb and 12lb on a med action St. croix with 8lb test.
So far this year the 17lb is the largest. Many in the 10-12lb range. Plus a few bonus walleyes while tryin to catch my bait.;

I guess the brule trip got called off due to a couple people cant make it, so they want to try leech lake instead. I'd say sure, if we are going for skies. but eyes are kinda pointless to target.

For the beee dub, we have only fished brule.
I have been trying to talk everyone into a different trip but i must not be convincing enough. Whats a good trip to take that isnt far to portage and has good walleye and laker populations?

thanks.

Good fishin all..

Glad to hear your back is doing well.

If I were you and wanted trout and walleye with limited effort, I'd hit Vermilion Trout.

I think it all helps to create motion and confusion to keep their attention away from the blinds.  The hurricanes seemed pretty important though.  6 of them per spread and moved around dependent on wind direction.  Some tall silo socks mixed in with them too.  Kill hole in the middle with a few decoys clustered over the e call.  That was about 25 yards from the blinds.  7-8 batteries to run everything.  2000 decoys per spread.   I wasn’t the shot caller.  We were taking them at about 40 yards on average but I believe we could’ve gotten a lot of them feet down.  We all remember the single Ross’ that broke off from a group of snows hovering at 100+ yards and took the elevator all the way down to its demise.  The shot was called just before it lit but we were all sure if it was left alone, the audience above would’ve joined.  It was mesmerizing to watch to watch how much they work a spread without flapping their wings much.   These pics were waiting for them to come down closer.  They did.

Never hunted conservation season. Actually get birds feet down or longer shots? I've been running battery operated flappers but does the rotary machine really help?
