I am headed up to the Grand Marais area for a few days over the 4th of July weekend and I was wondering if anyone could help me find some fish. The four of us are bringing two canoes. I was thinking of trying pike, caribou, and maybe going up the trail and trying the Brule. Can anyone make any recommendations? What lakes have been hot lately? Your help is appreciated.

Haven't heard to much on Caribou. You might get some snakes and some smalll smallies there. But the smallies will be biting like crazy on Pike. You can catch some nice eyes on Pike but its a night bite. I use mostly tube jigs for my smallie fishing on Pike. And a leech on a lighted bobber at night on Pike.

If you get a chance to chase some trout I would highly recomend you try that. The hex hatch should be going off and they will be hitting fly hard in the evening. Or you can troll smalll spoons off the back of your canoe.

Good Luck,
