Goooosssshhh darnit!!!! Here I am checking out posts and stuff, all the while the Twins make a comeback and win! Here it is, end of the 8th, Twins down 1-0 and I leave to check out the forums. And what's worse....my wife doesn't even tell me of the comeback! GRRRRRR!

Oh well, at least they won. Plus, they'll replay it tomorrow so I can set the VCR and record it.

Just a testament to the makeup of this team. The fact that Radke even makes it out there to pitch seems to me beyond the realm of possibility; better yet Radke has a strong outing. I don't even want to hear anybody try to minimize his effort because we are playing the Royals. You know Radke would have pitched left-handed if that's what it would have come to.

DOwn here in IOwa-- the games don't come in so well, especially late in the year with the loss of daylight, but tonight was a treat laying on the couch listning to CCO' and Gordo. Even after Hudson pitched lights out for 7 innings,(don't let anybody tell you the Royals are a bad team, they have a better record since the ALL Star break then the freakin CARDS)) you had a idea the TWins would still win. Even more so when Rincon got out of bases loaded, NO OUTs , jam in the top of the 9th.

I have heard GORDO call many big wins for the TWINS... --- PIERsynski's insurance shot agst the A's in 02',, Guzman's BUNT HR IN 2003, but last night's call with that high pitched voice going totally nuts with Mauers' HR, was the best so far. Hopefully he's got a few more in the postseason--- Here's a DRIVE,,, LEFT FIELD,, IT's GOT CHANCE---- (Gladden in the background going,, "GET UP- GET UP!!!)) GONE.... HR JOE MAUER!!!!! OHHH MYY!!! TOUCH' EM ALL!!!!! JOE MAUER!!!

One of most spectacular comebacks in sports history--- even if the Twins do nothing in the playoffs. They have passed the World Champs who they trailed by 10 games in June and tied the run-away train who some people thought would win close to 110 games. All this with one stud Starting pitcher and a makeshift rotation that includes guys that started the season in A ball or AA. AWESOME!!!!

I was crying "FOUL" last night. Twins get two on and KC walks the next guy to load 'em up for the number nine hitter. Looking decent. I go to the stats and the guy has a .313 average!!! That's not fair. My tigers don't have a .313 anywhere in the order and you guys got one batting ninth.

Nice win. Will Chicago play tough or roll over? Can the tigers go the season with only one loss to KC?

Good luck.

I think the Sox will play tough. They aren't going to lie down for the hated Twins.. Same with KC against Detroit. Play the spoiler role.

That was one of the best games I have ever watched, just as I was bichin about how the Twins have no killer instinct when the door was left open two consecutive nights and how it seems they are going to settle for the wild card...bam! Mauer baby. And how about Bartlett? That was pressure there, and he tagged the ball! There are at least 3 ways to make an out in that situation without scoring a run.

I agree with Stratos. Sox and Royals have had horribly disappointing seasons. If I was a Sox or Royals pitcher I think I just might be looking to end my season with about a dozen a strikeout performance. And maybe an 0-fer night for the batting Prince. smirk.gif

That was an exciting game last night. I'm down in Iowa too. Sweetie took the XM receiver out of her car and left it for me last night so I could hear the Twins. She's a good girl.

I only got a chance to watch a bit here and there last night, and got frustrated at how the Twins batters made the KC pitchers look like Cy Young. Got to watch the bottom of the 9th though. Mauer was just clutch. Still need to win out to have a chance. Hope it keeps going tonight.

MY AVATAR!!! until Monday. Great end of the game!! grin.gif

I take it then you plan to win the weekly bet this week? Personally, I like your chances on this week Buzzsaw, but for the sake of the avatar I'll say "Go Bills".

Awesome...simply awesome. It was just the momentum they needed to carry them into the final series with the Sux.

I was also at the game last night. Brad pitched great. Actually looked pretty tough out there.

After Mauer hit that homerun, you knew the Twins were gonna win the game. You could literally feel it swing the Twins way.

This has been a special season and one that fans should not take for granted.

Best thing - These guys are all relative newbies to the MLB. We will be tough for years.

I might have missed a guess, but here are the ones that I noted:   JerkinLips – March 27th, then April 7th Brianf. – March 28th Bobberwatcher – April…. MikeG3Boat – April 10th SkunkedAgain – early April, then April 21st   Definitely a tough year for guesses, as it seemed to be a no-brainer early ice out. Then it got cold and snowed again.

MN DNR posted April 13 as Ice out date for Vermilion

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!

Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
