I see Upper Red Lake is going strong with the crappies in shallow right now. Anyone know if they are going well on the Duluth area lakes. Would like to get out this weekend to try a few spots.

Any idea's where to try? I was thinking the river or Fish Lake?
I know there is a spot on Island that they try, but can't remember it.

I'm assuming that the crappie's might be going now just to the fact that the water temps on URL where 55-56 degrees and they should be about the same here?!?!?

Rice Lake? I've never heard of anyone ever fishing for crappies there. Boulders and weeds- any particular area on the lake that has those characteristics?

Once out on the lake,is the water levels high enough where I don't have to worry about blowing out my lower unit??

Yes theres rocks once you get out in the lake and over the years if found everyone of them. They're the same rocks that have crappies around them for a short period this time of year.
What am I saying there ain't any crappies in Rice lake.
Send me an email and I'll point a few rocks out to, avoid?

Try Fish Lake by the Bridge, Dam and Crappie Village. Anywhere from 2'-12'. Thats where you have to do the work and find them.

ST- I went out to Rice Lake, but forget to take your e-mail I tried the shallows with bobbers and minnows. No luck.
Wondering if you have been out lately targeting crappie's?

I talked with CrappieTom and am excited to get out and try plastics for those crappies!
