Wondering if anyone has been on Lake One yet this year and what the walleye's and smallies are striking at.

jjh welcome to FM. I haven't been on Lake One this spring but have been in the area.
Rocky Points with a jig and minnow and when the weather is warm hit the wind blown shores. You'll stumble onto the SM while targeting eyes on the points.

I haven't been up in the bwca for a few years, but we did go in at lake one and stayed mainly along Kiwishiwi (sp??) river. We had some good luck for the smallies casting poppers near cover and in areas around rapids, or near strong current with jigs and leeches. Good luck!

Try slip bobbers and leeches in the current of the rapids into lake 2. We have done real well doing this and jigging the current in the past.

Hi there,

I will be going up to the Lake One - Lake Two - Lake Three area of the BWCA June 18-20. I heard they have northerns and walleyes in them. Any suggestions on what lake I should focus on and what area?

Thanks a bunch!

Nam

PS - I will post my photos from the trip when I get back.

I haven't been through One, Two, Three, or Four in years. We made 5 trips into Lake Four. My wife and I did stay on Lake One once. Never found the walleyes, (middle of July), but we had two meals of real nice sunfish. The kind of sunfish that your outstretched fingers and thumb can barely hold the sunny's belly and back. Up near the portage to Two.

Good luck!
