trout fishing

hey guys-
i need advise on stream trout fishing in the duluth area. what tackle, where, how? are there any bait shops that would be helpful?

Check with the Lester River Fly shop. Is on Superior Street downtown Duluth. Maybe 2nd or 3rd St east. They should be able to point you down the right path.

Otherwise south of Dulth there is the Nemadji and the Blackhoof that I've had decent success on.

For hard tackle I like to use small Panthermartins, Mepps XDs, and vibraxes(gold,orange,pink)-it's usually single hooks only so cut two hooks off of the treble and use light line (4-6)for casting. For flies I usually use an egg pattern or flip a couple rocks and try to match the hatch. The DNR has maps for the northshore streams availible for free and give info on species, stretches and access. Good luck and have fun.
