Just wondering if anyone opened up on Basswood. I am heading up there in a couple weeks and just looking for all the info I can get. Thanks guys!

I did and it was pretty slow. But I was on the East end of the lake. I have no idea how Jackfish and Pipestone were.

I suspect the fishing will improve a great deal by the time you go. With the warmer temps we are getting things have to start heating up before to long.

It was great to be up there again regardless of the fishing and I can not wait to get back. Only 4 weeks and 2 days to go grin.gif.

We did just OK on the east end. Our group of 9 picked up enough opening day for a fish fry on Saturday night. 15 guys (including Dr. Bob & Xplorer) were over for dinner and drinks.

Sunday and Monday we picked up enough for everyone to pack fish home for dinner with the family. 4 lakers, biggest topping out at 9 lbs, was a nice little bonus.

Pipestone Falls on the west side had a great opening morning bite, as some friends of mine picked up limits before 10:00 AM. That's all I had heard about that side of the lake.

Thanks for the info guys. I am going to be up there with my brother from June 4th-7th. We are going up through Fall Lake and probably fish from the falls and work our way up from there. Any of you guys going to be up there at that time? Would love to have to have any one over for maybe a drink and some fish fry (hopefully!). Talk to you guys later.

We opened up on the prarie side as well. Couldn't buy a walleye on sat and only caught one on sunday but it was a 25". We caught lots of pike everywhere and 4 of them were in the 10lb range. I also caught a 20" smallie on sunday morning which made the trip for me. Weather was nice(gotta sunburn),scenery was fantastic and the food and company were bar none. Monday we portaged into the pipestone side and managed about 25 walters for 2 boats, kept 12 eaters and released the rest. Caught some in louis narrows and the rest in deeper water (26'+). Can't wait to get back up there cuz even a slow day in paradise beats a good day anywhere else!

redhooks-Very nice. Every year we say we're going to bring wheels up and portage over to Louis', then never get around to it. The fishing always good over there this time of the year. Like you, we caught most of our eyes deep, anchored on drops from 20-25 ft, just jigging over the side of the boat.

Big Bear: Going to be up there the week of July 4th. Taking the in-laws and nephews in through Fall lake as well. Maybe we'll be able to compare notes.

I'm heading in this weekend myself, but a buddy who went in on opener had reasonably good luck. Somewhere around 100 fish caught and released in a day and a half of fishing (5 guys). They were over on the Pipestone end. Most fish were caught in about 8 FOW with jigs tipped with chubs. We were in over memorial day weekend last year and had similar luck, although the fish were a bit deeper, closer to 12- 14 FOW

Well, fishing on Basswood this weekend was pretty poor, mostly due to the weather I think... Walleyes were very tight lipped, with our group of four not even catching one limit of decent fish. We turned our efforts towards looking for Northerns, and did catch one nice Northern and one big walleye.

Anyone else out there this weekend with any reports?

Barely had time and data to post a few random daily pics!  😄   Iffen you’re self banned, how’d ya know? 😉   Sunday - Tuesday hunt near Yankton, SD.  We found ourselves there between two of the big pushes north.  Adults first, pushing the ice line north, slipped through a couple days before we got there and the second juvie push held up by the storm that went through the night we traveled.  Our best day was Monday.  Sunny and warm with a nice south wind.  Day 3 was cool with a stiff northeast wind bringing in another storm.     A select few groups did well with birds coming off Lewis and Clark lake but we weren’t in their path.  We packed up early and hit the road.  We headed north and found them between Brookings and Watertown.  Saw 100’s of thousands at the ice line.

Crazy, about 50 Robin's hit our yard!  Not sure what their eating but none are in any of the neighbors yards around us?  Had to cut video down so it would run.  20250319_175454.mp4
