New Jerseys are UGLY!!!

I saw the new jerseys when they came out this spring and thought they were OK. A little too busy for me but not as bad as they could have been. At least they left the horns on the helmet. But catching them in action for the first time last night in the first pre season game I thought they were some of the worst in the league!!! The biggest problem for me is the purple color they chose. What happened to the dark royal purple from the 60s 70s and 80s???? It was almost a navy blue back then. This new brighter, lighter purple SUCKS!!! They look like a bunch of lilacs running around out there. If it were up to me we would go back to the 60s look with purple pants on the road. I can't believe the number of the teams that have ruined the look of their jerseys. (Broncos, Bills, Bengals, Cardinals, Lions, Seahawks) There have been a few that have improved (Giants, Rams, Bucs) but I just hate when they throw all of the tradition out the window just to sell jerseys to all the fans that have to have the new one.

While I'm ranting, what's up with our field turf? It looks brown. The end zone writing is crap too. You can hardly read it. Why not put Minnesota in one EZ and Vikings in the other so the letters can be visible instead of cramming both into each EZ??? I swear the Vikings are trying to make the dome look as junky as possible just to get us to build them a new one.

The turf is going to look awkward during preseason. I'm sure they haven't taken out all the kinks yet because of baseball. They probably just slapped something together so they don't have to work as hard when the Twins have their next game...

Personally I kinda liked the jerseys myself. As for the turf and the dome...Its always been crap.

Look at the bright side. Almost every team that changed their long-standing jersey went on to either play in or win the Superbowl for the first time: Buc's, Bronco's, Rams, Seahawks

I can tell you one jersey I wouldn't go with. # 81 What a loser. Maybe they didn't give him enough money. Glad there are kids that pay attention to football and have heros hopefully none for this clown. Sorry to get off the subject here, I do like the new look too.

You know maybe the new owner and coaches have to make examples of this team. If your going to act like teen-agers so be it. Bring on the baby sitters. I have five girls of my own and can find time during the football season to be a baby sitter/taxi driver. Heck I would do it just for free tickets!!! Maybe the owner should just buy a bus and shuttle the boys back and forth to the bars. No wait then we would end up having the "Love Bus scandles". I sure wish I made 1/2 the money some of these football players make. Abviouslly these player think they are better then most people and the laws of America don't apply to their calibur of talent. Like I said in an earlier post some of these guys are just great role models for our kids growing up. I believe there shouldn't be three chances given to a star role model. What a joke. Hey Koren maybe the CFL will be looking for your top talent. You and the wiz kid can be roomys. Bring back Moss maybe he has grown up enough and has leared from his mistakes.

I agree about the home jerseys. I hate the new purple, too many colors on the jersey. The pants I hate the purple swoop. Only thing they did right on is purple pants on the road.

Sorry, but watching the game last night I though those purple pants were the ugliest thing I've seen in a long time....

I thought they looked good.

I don't care for the new jerseys...kind of ugly, I think. Maybe they'll grow on me. I'll give 'em a chance.

I always liked the all-white road uniforms...the white pants with the white jerseys looked good. I think the Vikes and the Chiefs were the last teams to have all-white road uniforms. Shame to be going away from that. The purple pants suck.

After seeing the road whites I like them better then the old unis. I think they should go with the roads at home too like the cowboys, redskins, and panthers.

  • 2 weeks later...

No -- they need to stick with purple at home. Nice to have a little color out there.

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
