Live birds

I have been working with my pup with pheasant wings and duck wings as well as pheasant/duck road kill birds that I keep in the freezer between use. I would like to get him on some live birds. Anyone know where a guy could pickup some or how to get him on some birds? He is nearing 5 months old and the only live birds he has been around are a few he has flushed on accident north of here. I live in the northern suburbs if that helps.. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on what I should be doing at this point I would take that info also. This is the first dog that I have trained and I think it is going well but help from others never hurts smile.gif

Thanks, LovenLifeGuy

I think you can get hen pheasants at Oakwood game farm in Princeton. What kind of dog do you have?

what are the rules on working dogs on live birds that you buy from a farm? I would guess you have to be on a shooting preserve to hunt them but am not sure? Anybody know for sure?
