Yeah I'll probally be all over the shore like most days i have free but will more then likely make a stop at the french. A bit of advise if you haven't been there lately, bring your waders and stick close to the mouth, that's where 90% of the fish are being caught.

good luck

I would like to get out there this weekend. This is my second year here at UMD. Never really had a chance to get out last year but want to change that this year. This type of fishing is totally new to me so yeah I guess I would be a noobie at this. Thinking about getting a new rod the one I currently have probably isnt long enough as it seems. I have really enjoyed reading all of the posts about shore fishing and the "looper how to guide" been a lot of help.

Any recomendations on the basics of what I need to get started/ tackel/ rods
have my licence and stamps so I am almost ready to go. Just a little more advise and I think Ill give it a try.

Thanks,

DD

I bought a 10.5 Shim Conver $60.00(lifetime overtheconter warr)(I would go longer if just for salmon) I loaded one of my 1000 series reels w/6# maxima amd use a 4-5' 6# floro leader. I would buy a 4000 series if new and have MG load it(about $2.50-5.00). I used a 3' metal dowel from a hardware store $1.50. and 5' of 1.5" PVC cut into 18" holder's attached with duct tape - the handy mans tool.
