St.Louis River Crappie Gathering

How does a Crappie gathering sound? St.Louis River and bays. Sat. May 1st? I know thats the Wi.Opener but there is another Crappie Tourney planned for the 8th on the river.
Or we can all get into the other tourney being run by my Mon. Night Multi Species League? $20 a head.
I would like to see how many are interested on the 1st and go from there. I also would like any and all ideas for a crappie gathering on the river.
We will also do a Catfish Gathering on the river probably in late June. That sound good Jar Jar?

Frozen I guess I will do that. MR.D's in my youthful stomping grounds of West Duluth will be the official "Temple" for the St.Louis Chapter of IBOT's.
It was a long process but Al outbid everyone else. Plus I just like the place and AL has sponsored many of my teams and held several benefits for friends! I have to support a bussiness that does that much for people!

Sounds interesting, I might join yous unless the wind is out of the south then I will be trolling the lake shore. I've done alot of ice fishing for crappies down there but have never tried it out of a boat for them. Would be a learing experience for me.

I'd go Steve. Me and the boys are itchin for more open water. Driftin for steelies is cool but we want to float. I've had a bit of trouble finding crappies down there though. And whenever I go to oliver or up I slam waldo's and the DNR don't like that. I've heard the bays are good but have never found them in the late spring, maybe early will be better.

We need rain to get that ice out of those bays. Crappies are usually hot by the 3rd week in May to last week in May. Last year I went to a Bay last week of May and had a blast! Only lasted a couple days because I was too bussy catching eyes to experiment with the Crappies. This year Im on a mission to figure out their migrations.

NORTHLANDER They do not move very fare from those spots but they do find deeper water. and if you know the river you will now where to find them . But if you need help tell randy and get my number and i will tell you . I fished them for years and never said a word but since you would like to catch them i might be able to help. let me know and good luck to ALL.

I think that the first would work for me, i'm planning on putting the boat in at UPS this weekend both mornings, and trolling the sand awhile. Should be able to swing at least a morning outing for crappies.

May 1st sounds good depending on if we go down to the Minong flowage for opener( good eyes that time of year).
That cat gathering for late June sounds great.we sholud get together and start a thread for that only and it should be a good turn out
