I'm heading up to Trout Lake north of Vermilion next week for 4 days of camping/fishing. Never been there before. I'm wondering if anyone has any information on good campsites that they can share. I'll be targeting smallmouth and walleyes primarily, and could also use some info on where to look for them. I'm assuming that I should be hitting reefs. Are there many reefs on the lake? I promise to post a full report when I return.

OK - first, ask this same thing on the Vermilion page. wink.gif

Now - I like Stony Island - run long lines off the south w/siscos (sp) about 70-80 FOW for Lakers (you should reel in the lines from the boat if you get hits here, because of the sharp drop off). Or KC point - run line every angle +- 60 FOW - these are for camping.

Walleyes - trolling cranks... 20' +- in south & west bay etc. (look at the structure pattern for going your own route).

Otherwise hit the rock reefs (lots) run above 20' for Bass and below for eyes. (fyi - they can both be caught on the same reefs - just different depths)

north side of the 5-Sisters is doing well. The ledge on west side of Pine Island...

Have fun!

Thanks for the info, DuluthGuy. And you're right. Now that I've done a query on Trout I see that the discussions have resided in the Vermilion forum. I should have started there.

Is there anyone out there that can direct me to some good campsites?
