kicker motor for crestliner 182 tourney series

Question

Posted

I am looking at buying a 4 stroke kicker motor for my Crestliner 182 Tourney series. Plan on backtrolling with it and using it to troll cranks. What is the smallest HP you think I could get away with?

What is your main motor (brand) The yamaha T8 is sweet as is the mercury 9.9 Pro. The T8 has plenty of torque so I would say the smallest you could get away with would be an 8 horse

thanks Harpoon, I have a Yamaha 175 VMAX HPDI. I was thinking the same thing. I most likely will be looking for a used motor. There just doesn't seem to be a whole lot of used Yamaha T8's out there.

No, it is very hard to find a used T8, might have to go new. There are getting more reasonable now (around $2600)

Since you have a Yamaha main a would highly recommend the T8. My friend has it and loves it. I have a 9.9 merc 4 stroke, they are plenty big to get you by.

I really like the T-8 and that Mercury Pro Kicker is sweat too. I like the main and kicker to be same type or at least color. Or do like some guys are doing and get the cowling painted to mach.
