Its that time of year where we look at getting the props we banged up last year fixed up. Ive taken mine to Jay Soderbloom and he does great work at a real reasonable price and his turnaround is the quickest in the area. Often times next day.
If you have props you need fixed up or looking to buy new ones give him a call. 218-644-3392 or check out his website at www.soderbloom.com. Jay also does Docks and Custom Ice Houses. Everything he makes is top quality and will last for years.
Jay is offering a 25% Fishing Mn. discount on all prop repair! He also does mail orders.
Tell him " Northlander" sent ya.
Good Fishin! grin.gif

Granny, How did you like Jays work? Another happy customer?

I brought my prop to Jay and I was very pleased with his service and price! My prop was ready the next day. He even gave me a some info on his flip style fish house that he is fine tunning for next ice season. Sounded like a nice house for much cheaper than others on the market. Thanks Jay for the good work.

time is running out get those props in for repair open water won't be long in the northland

I picked this tip up in "Walleye Insider", try it, it works great if you run areas with a lot of hazards. Take a 5-gallon bucket, and fill the bottom with some quick-set cement (about 1/3 of the way up). Coat your prop with some oil (anything will work really), and push it into the cement part way. You are basically just trying to get an impression of your prop in the cement. Let it dry, then pop the whole works out of the bucket. May take some cutting of the bucket, so make sure you don't care about the bucket you use. Pop your prop out of the cement, and you have a perfect impression. Next time you fold a blade over, take the prop off, lay it on the mold you made, use a rubber mallet and smack it back into shape. I've used this with success during duck season ... saves a trip to the "prop doctor". Northlander ... what's up? I'll see you out on the St. Louis, or the big pond this spring.

Are we using Northlander are you a drop-off station smile.gif

Probably just as close for you to run it to Jay rather than drive to my place. If your on your way to the lake or river we can meet and I can get it to Jay. Let me know ST.
I guess if people in Duluth/Superior area cant get the stuff to Jay I can run it up there but only if there is a large enough demand. Let me know if you need this service. Just another way to keep everyone fishing and having more fun! grin.gif

Well,
I just picked up my SS prop from Jay. I can't list the price he gave me because it was a steal! What a great guy, and shop. No-one can match his quality & price. The prop was for a 225hp to give you an idea of size and the base cost (without the HUGE discount) was 3 times below what I was quoted from other prop places...

Thanks Jay - I'll let you know about buyng that new 4-blade.

Hey maybe Ill toss a SS prop on my 25 Yamaha! grin.gif At least if I ding it I know where to get it fixed up.
You really cant beat Jays service and pricing. Plus he is a great guy.

Posted

Bob he thought that was the wrong prop. Glad you got it worked out though. Jay works hard to make you happy no matter how much $ you spend.

Posted

Boy you aren't kidding Jay is a good guy! He will get all of my future business that is for sure.

The prop I brought him was not the right one for my motor - it was supposedly a spare for it, but turned out to be a yammy prop instead. So Jay checked into it and was going to sell me a new prop at a HUGE reduction!

Talking with him on the phone yesterday he suggested I make sure the motor had a thrust washer on it before he ordered the prop (I'm not familiar with those black motors). That way if it was missing he could get me one of those too. We'll after work I tore it apart and it turns out I got hosed on that Merc mad.gif. It has a badly bent out-put shaft!!!! I cannot believe what a dumb toad I was to let that one slip by me confused.gif.

After a half hour or so of mass frustration and belly ache'n I called my good friend Jigglestick and lined up another motor. Problem solved smile.gif.

I called Jay this morning to let him know what happened. He was really great and felt bad that I got took. He is really a great guy and also likes to BS about fishing just as much as the rest of us. I rate him a 10+!!!

Barely had time and data to post a few random daily pics!  😄   Iffen you’re self banned, how’d ya know? 😉   Sunday - Tuesday hunt near Yankton, SD.  We found ourselves there between two of the big pushes north.  Adults first, pushing the ice line north, slipped through a couple days before we got there and the second juvie push held up by the storm that went through the night we traveled.  Our best day was Monday.  Sunny and warm with a nice south wind.  Day 3 was cool with a stiff northeast wind bringing in another storm.     A select few groups did well with birds coming off Lewis and Clark lake but we weren’t in their path.  We packed up early and hit the road.  We headed north and found them between Brookings and Watertown.  Saw 100’s of thousands at the ice line.

Crazy, about 50 Robin's hit our yard!  Not sure what their eating but none are in any of the neighbors yards around us?  Had to cut video down so it would run.  20250319_175454.mp4
