If you had to pick a few different lures to troll for lakers in shallower water in Canada, around late May, what would you use? Specifics would help a lot. Thanks, Andy.

Andy,

Hey good to see a local 95 grad on here. I am on this site all the time, now live down in the metro though. I am up fishing every other weekend though it seems. Good luck in Canada.

Hey Eric-
How have you been? Where have you been fishing lately? I've been hitting the shore, pretty much done with ice. If you come up and fish the French or Sucker, look around I'll more than likely be there. Take care.

I have been pondering the same question. I thinks I was told to troll crank baits. We usually go in early May right after ice out and just fish from islands but I would like to do a little trolling also. Does anyone know how long the lakers stay in shallow water after ice out?

The last couple weekends I have been down on Pool 4 near Redwing. I am coming up as soon as I hear UPS is open out to the lake. I need to drag some lines for a coho or two.
Plus I just want to play around in the new boat.

On inland lakes I troll the upper 15 feet of the water column all the way into mid-June. I have found that husky jerks, jointed raps, and Andy's Dandy's have consistently been my top three producers. Silvers, Golds, Glass, and Orange.

Hey Andy..You know of any Heaslip's up there?

Just wondering...

Sounds a little Moose Lake to me?

I've boated quite a few inland lakers on Little Cleos tipped with a fathead.
Chippewa Guide lures again tipped with a fathead.

Trolling with planers when they're up that shallow works for me. Get everything out and away from the boat.
