I'm scheduled to go island camping on Lake Saganaga at the end of the Gunflint Trail this Friday but they might shutdown the Trail by that time if the fire gets a good southerly wind again. So I'm thinking of camping on Kab if that happens. Anybody know of a good island motorboat campsite on Kab, with good moorage, particularly near where some walleye might be hanging. Speaking of which, how is the bite up there lately? I fished it a couple times several years back and found it to be a good walleye lake as long as you had an ancient Norwegian guide with you. Thanks!

Cutover Island is in the middle of Kab on the north side. It has several campsites in the area and has some of the better fishing going on right now. That is where we had our best luck last week. Bring plenty of bug spray, I have never had the biting flies and musquitos so bad. I think we used more bug spray then bait!

Thanks alot, Fishinalot, I'm familiar with that area. Use to fish a reef that ran off the NW tip of that island. And thanks for the heads up on the bug juice!!

Your Welcome!

Bad news: The way it sounds there will be a burning ban on starting this weekend. Pray for rain.
