May sound like a crazy questions but if your shore fishing on the French, what is the best wind direction for Kamloop fishing? not including calm.

Posted

Good question. I often wonder myself. On the times I have caught fish at the French it seemed like a slight N.E. was blowing. I know guys go on 1 side of the river or the other depending on wind. I usually set up anyplace close to the mouth and roll the dice.
Anyone got any good hard evidence for us?

I always felt my odds were better if the wind was coming in out of the NE. Last spring I saw fish cruising in the surf when 6 footers were coming in. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. The waves would create a vertical wall of water just before they broke and I could look waaaayyyyyyy down into the water and down the drop off. There were many fish cruising just off the lip of the stream wash. Only caught one but there were a lot down there.

Lota I've seen the same thing many times.

I like an slight incoming wind with a 1-2' chop will keep the fish in longer.

I'm with S.T. on that one, but I have to add that I've been skunked in such winds before, while at other times in different winds I've caught decent numbers of fish.

That being said, if I could pick a wind, it would by that light incoming breeze, whether I'm shore fishing on the North Shore or casting off the T.H. breakwall.

Barely had time and data to post a few random daily pics!  😄   Iffen you’re self banned, how’d ya know? 😉   Sunday - Tuesday hunt near Yankton, SD.  We found ourselves there between two of the big pushes north.  Adults first, pushing the ice line north, slipped through a couple days before we got there and the second juvie push held up by the storm that went through the night we traveled.  Our best day was Monday.  Sunny and warm with a nice south wind.  Day 3 was cool with a stiff northeast wind bringing in another storm.     A select few groups did well with birds coming off Lewis and Clark lake but we weren’t in their path.  We packed up early and hit the road.  We headed north and found them between Brookings and Watertown.  Saw 100’s of thousands at the ice line.

Crazy, about 50 Robin's hit our yard!  Not sure what their eating but none are in any of the neighbors yards around us?  Had to cut video down so it would run.  20250319_175454.mp4
