Was out on Winnie Sat and with all the mayflies on the surface, there was a lot of action of fish jumping out of the water. Does anyone know for sure what kind of fish these are? I marked a lot of suspended fish, but do not know what they are. Can these possibly be walleye or perch?

Probably whitefish and tullibees.

I've also seen suckers surfacing for the flies.

I'm certain that I've seen walleyes on Winnie scarfing down mayflies on the surface. But they have got to surface close to the boat for me to identify that. I sure coulnd't catch them and really wished I had had my fly rod with and a good mayfly immitation.

I was out on Winnie Thursday - Monday. I also saw alot of fish surfacing, most were difficult to see, but the one I did see were perch.

Pretty tough fishing, Thursday and Friday we did OK on Sugar, but had a harder time finding active fish Saturday and Sunday. The fish we did catch were gorged with some sort of bug larva that looked like 1/8" long little worms.

Three of us were out from 7:30 to 3:30 on Sunday. To say the least it was slow. We fished the north end humps, to Sugar to Moses. We managed 2 walleyes, a 12 incher and a 23 incher. We only saw maybe a dozen caught all day. To say the least I think the mayfly hatch has really slowed things down. I'm curious if anybody did any good on Sunday? One of the slowest days I have had in years.
