I will be staying on the 3rd Crow Wing July 1st to July 8th. How is the fishing on this lake? With it being a tough time of the year for fishing, what can I target? Any chance of still catching some walleyes. How bout' crappies?

Any help on spots to fish on the lake would be greatly appreciated.

i fished it about a week ago we caught some of the biggest sunfish I have seen come out of that lake in quite some time the crappies were also mixed in we found them on the sunken island casting cubby darters with waxworms right before dark .I didn't try for walleyes but if you put your time in you should do ok.

It is a good fishing lake. Lots of panfish in the pencil reeds. Good bass and northern trolling cranks around weedlines (esp the 2 main points that drop off quickly).

For eyes, focus on evenings and look for the underwater humps that top off in 10-13' of water. They can also be caught on the deeper weedlines.

There is an outside chance I will be up there around 7/7-7/10. Older Lund w/ 25hp Honda or 17' Gray Alumacraft w/ 60HP Yamaha.

Very good crappie lake. Small jigs(1/16th with small twisters or something like that) and minnows is what we use the most. We usually fish around the 2 sumerged islands with the wild rice showing in the mornings and evenings and usually do well. Also do well with the bass on spinnerbaits and plastic worms around the weeds, rice, and pads. I also troll around the large submerged island with crankbaits for northerns and end up with a few walleyes usually. You can also fish 1st, 2nd, and 4th Crow Wing as well. 4th is full of weeds, so a very good northern lake and bass at times. I have not fished 1st or 2nd much - usually 3rd since the fishing is usually good - why go too far.
