I packed up the family yesterday morning after church and we headed to an area lake ~1 hour west of Le Sueur for a picnic lunch and afternoon/evening on the water. The lake we chose I had never been to before so I had no idea what to expect other than I knew most of the structure and lay-out was very similar to what I deal with around here (i.e. Madison, Tetonka, etc). confused.gif I decided to start out with, of course, casting to classic wind-swept points in 1 - 3' of water but was only able to muster small northern after small northern and even a micro-muskie measuring no more than 14". After watching some boats anchored near the "basin" of the lake (i.e. 14' of water) catch crappie after crappie, I put 2 and 2 together that there may be some baitfish working the center of the lake. So, we swtiched gears and went to pulling 1 oz. snap weights with spinners and crawlers behind boards. I made one pass right down "the pipe" of the lake and didn't see a whole lot and did not get bit until I got to an area of the lake that was slightly clearer in water clarity than any other part. As soon as we moved through this area, we had chaos. For the better part of 3 hours, the 14 - 16" 'eyes went nuts and then just as fast as they turned on, they turned off. confused.gif Kind of strange but we enjoyed the bite while it lasted. wink.gif The technique and presentation that dominated was to let out your spinner and crawler 15', attach the 1 oz. snap weight and then let out another 20' of line and finally hook on the planer board. We were running this presentation ~10' down over 13' of water between 2.0 - 2.4 mph. The fish were just clobbering the bait so it makes me think those fish hadn't seen something like that come in front of their face before, or at least not very often. smirk.gifgrin.gifblush.gif

Well, no fishing around here this week as I prepare for a few upcoming trips to Mille Lacs this weekend.

Good luck and we'll see you on the water.

just wandering what kind of boat and acc.for sale?

Posted

Well, it's not officially "for sale" yet but...

I have a '96 1600 Lund Explorer powered by a '97 40 hp Honda. The ride includes a Lowrance X71, Apelco marine band radio with 8' antenna, Wave Wackers, 4 Atwood rod holders, anchor, marker buoys and a few other accessories that will be thrown in. It has been well taken care of and trouble-free. It will not be easy to get rid of it because it's been so good to me.

It will be advertised in the "For Sale" forum on FM when it's available.
