Question
Fishin4Life
I have an old (1963) evinrude. Leaks gear oil. I am trading it to a guy + some cash for a 1970's Johnson, same motor just a bit newer. My 63 is an 18hp and so is the Johnson. My question... I am meeting up with the guy tonight, we are going to run the Johnson on the lake to make sure it functions ok before we trade. Anything I should watch for? He said he just replaced all the lower unit seals and impeller. Let me know what you guys think. My first thought was to run it, then drain a bit of oil to be sure it was cloudy from water. But that is about the extent of my "checking it out". Thanks in advance.
