Thank you Captain Obvious. Load you have to make hay while you can. Your right about that though. Only thing is I never see you at any of them. You going to get that new motor broken in or what.

where do you get tickets for this?start time and place, any other info?i am interested in going and getting my grand grin.gif

sorry i see it says local bait shops, any idea if lucky 7 in virginia will have tickets?

Anyone know how big of a fish won it last year?

Posted

Stop by fisherman's corner for more info and entry. I bet a 12 pounder is big enough to take it. I thought i heard someone mention the winner was around 8 lbs last year...maybe i heard wrong though.

Posted

I know Fishermans Corner, Minnowette, Chalstroms and Marine General has them. If you are from out of town and need tickets I can get them and send them to you if needed. Or just get them the day of the contest.

I think a fish around 7-8 pounds won last year.

Some great prizes this year and the ones last year were great as well. I hope to see a lot of FMers there. We usually have a barbeque at the D A M landing about noon of the 1st day. Stop by if your there.

They will be selling tickets until 9 am that sat. Last year 1,2 3 were 7.13,6.14,6.13. rest went5 down to 3.15 We have had up to 9 lbs entered. In the past. I know for a fact that there is bigger in the lake.

Thats the only way guys like you and I can get fish out of Island Lake SK. grin.gif Can you imagen the mess that would create. The locals are already pissed off every other year because their docks are blocks out of the water. frown.gif

bump it now there is fish in it

Up until yesterday i would have been in 100% agreement with Skippers Kid and Northlander to drain the lake to find the fish. Over the past two days i had spent 21 hours on the lake without anything but two perch and a bad sunburn blush.gif Then something magical happened- a 26" eye as well as 6 smaller eyes suddenly made it into the boat (and back out of course) within the 22nd hour. With this said- ripstick is right, there are fish in the lake - 9 to be exact grin.gif

there is one thing about island. Maybe 2 but here is 1. Versatility. Sometimes you have to try every thingand dont stick to the obvious spots. Besides any day out fishing is better than sitting around the house.

Pastfan

welcome aboard and glad you found some fish in that potato feild it can be slow fishing but there is fish out there. You are the man that manny hours I would have called it a day well done.

Posted

Normally I would have called it a day as well but my dad was up from southern mn and he lugged his 1966 18ft Shell Lake all this way so there wasn't any moving around once we put in.

Posted

Well like I said I HAVE MORE HOURSE IN ON THE LAKE THAN MOST AND I HAVE MORE TIME THAN POUNDS SO BE HAPPY. You did very well and good fishing hope your next outing will be more fish than time on the water good luck out there. cool.gif..

There is alot of fish both big and small. Sometimes the bigger ones are just abit more diffacult to find. Yes some times you look for structure where there isnt real structure. smirk.gif

Posted

Weigh in is at the bridge east side. Hours a8-8 sat 8-3 sunday I will double chechk monday and make any corrections. Awards will be at the Island lake inn at 4pm. It would be nice if everyone who fishes would come to the inn. There is a lot of great door prizes.

My son got paid back for a good deed he did several years ago. He found a couple of expensive items at a boat ramp and called me asking what he should do.   I told him to bring them home because I was afraid if someone else found them, they might keep them. It was winter and nobody was around. This was when Facebook wasn't really popular yet, I was on several sites like this. First thing we did was make a big sign and posted it at the boat launch, then I posted it on all the forums I was on. Long story short, we never found the owner, but we sure tried. I know to this day, if either one of us found something, we'd do our best to get it back to the rightful owner.

Yes, for sure.     A few years back, and unbeknownst to me, a piece of trim came off my sled while traveling over the lake.  A fellow sledder and complete stranger found the piece and followed my tracks all the way back to my cabin to return the lost item.  Couldn't thank him enough.  His kindness will never be forgotten and is something to which I aspire.

I'll bet your son and his buddies did the happy dance!!!

Sweet!!👍 there are still good people out there!

We got the auger back! The person who found it didn't want me to mention his name, we can't thank him enough! Still good, honest people around. He called Spring Bay Resort and asked if they heard of anyone losing an auger and they sent him a screenshot of my post. So, thanks to Dayis and Steve at Spring Bay Resort for that! Thanks again everyone for getting the auger back to us!

Who’s been out? I got hit with the flu and am still recovering.
    • CigarGuy
That's what they're going to do. I always read these posts and wondered how people could lose or forget stuff, well it happens!

Dang….  I know it’s your son, so kinda different, but I’d be expecting a replacement from those who lost it.  The group could each put in and wouldn’t hit one or another too bad.   But that’s just an old man’s thoughts….💭    Good luck.

So my son and buddies were out this morning fishing between Wakemup and H.O.L. Bays (probably between Metza's pt and Schmidt Island), so they had to cross the snowmobile trail to The Landing. Well,  MY Strikemaster 24 volt auger fell off the back of my sled.  They didn't realize it until they got back. If anyone found it, would be nice to get back...please and thank you. Good news is they had the battery in their pocket..... Dip $hits😡
