I think its Swede...its just outside of Watertown heading south/east out of town. Does anyone know if this lake is holding fish right now? I have heard of some winterkills in recent years but never have tried it. Look like a fun lake to fish and I did see someone fishing in the spring. I might get out there for a bit today just to see, if nothing happens I plan to head to the Crow River.

You a correct. Swede Lake south of Watertown off Co. Rd. 10. About 5-6 years ago it got hit really hard (fishing pressure) in the winter. Big crappies, but since then not many have fished it. I'm sure not every fish got caught, but as with many other small lakes like that around here, once the words out, its all over. The entire lake is 9-11 FOW, so winter kill can be an issue.. GOOD LUCK

Thanks for the info...almost tried it but decided on a different lake. I will get out there soon and see how it goes...I spose I will try the crappies for a bit but I would like to see if there are any bass in there of decent size. Hard to imagine that lake getting overfished because I never see anyone fish it but if it did get hit hard it is not big enough to handle the pressure for long.

FishinChad,

I wish you could have seen that lake 5-6 years ago, you definitely would believe us that it probably got fished out, there were i would say 75-150 trucks out there every night all winter long. It was absolutely CRAZY! Good Luck to ya, i haven't seen more than 1 or 2 boats out there every summer since then.

Thats crazy, I cant believe people come in hoards like that to a tiny lake...I dont care how big the crappies were I woulda quit fishing, I try not to fish lakes that I feel are being overpressured, just adds to the problem even though I dont keep any. Makes me almost afraid to post my results on here if I do catch some fish out there. Good Luck.

That lake got hammered for two winters. It froze out towards the end of the second. I saw license plates from Iowa. Don't post if you do well.

It did have red lake sized crappies in it and within 2 weeks they were all but gone----don't bet on it happening again real soon.
