Hi all,

Going up to my cabin on tiny lake, not on chain. Just wondering what any of you might be finding is working on walleyes (will eat some) or smallies (release only). Largemouth are always biting smile.gif Haven't been up therein several weeks, and last time they were biting on small jigs and gulp 3" minnows. The crapps were biting great them too, hope they still might be.

Thanks,

For what its worth to anyone going up there to a small lake.. I got a largemouth (small) on my first cast with a 3" tube, and 19" smallie just 10 minutes later. Add another half a dozen LMB and some small pike, and that our first evening on Friday. The first time I used tubes on this lake, and it worked pretty well all weekend.

Crappies were still biting small jigs with gulp minnows (2") and got some LMB on spinnerbaits. Tried topwaters, and no biters, but they were hitting something on the surface, must have been the start of a lakefly hatch or something, but I didn't see many pupal skins around yet.

Got some smallies and LMB on gulp crawlers texas rigged and senkos, but the tubes with a weighted hook worked the best. They hit them lighter than senkos for some reason, so I probably had more hits than I realized smile.gif

Trolling cranks didn't do as well as I thought it would, but a few bass and bunch of small pike still bit.

Anyway, that was last weekend. Will try again this weekend. I love the early mornings on this little lake, as I only saw one other boat before about 9 am. 3-4 hours of fishing with no other boats. Priceless smile.gif
