I am heading up to Bay Lake (east of Brainard...north of Garrison) with the family in the middle of August. Was wondering how the lake is for fishing? I primarily like to fish walleye, but will spend time fishing for bass and panfish as well...especially in the dog days of August. Any information anyone can provide would be appreciated.

If you like chasing walleyes, I might suggest spending some time on Mille Lacs. The bite up there right now is insane from what I hear, and should still be putting out fish in August. If you don't have a boat, no problem, just make reservation on one of the launches. It's fairly cheap and a good way to spend the night on the big pond with the family. Sorry I'm not help with Bay Lake. Never been on it. Later,Paul

Yes, I am definitely going to hit Mille Lacs when I get up there. The only issue for me is that I will be at the cabin on Bay Lake with the wife and kid(20 months old) most of the time, and will not be able to get to Mille Lacs probably more than once. I am hoping Bay Lake has something to catch, cause I may only be able to get out on the lake in 1 to 2 hr increments...before checking in with wife.

If you are into catching numbers of small northerns then you will have your hands full. Send me a PM if you want to compare notes!
