I was just wondering if anyone has been out at the mp&l culvert or if anyone has heard anything yet.

Thanks,

Kyle

Hey Kyle,

I made it out there yesterday (Tues) and didn't catch anything. I had my duck boat out and there were another 3-4 boats out there as well. I didn't see anyone catch anything. It's goofy how they can be there one day and not the next. I know MP&L is on shut down right now, so maybe not as much warm water is being discharged and that has the fish scattered? Regardless it was still fun to get out the open water gear, boy my fly casting was ugly!!! Pauly and I made our last ice trip today and caught a few perch, but nothing to brag about. Just an FYI, the access at Little Ball Club is shot, unless you're a track star and can make the jump out onto the ice, or use a plank, but I don't hate fish that bad! grin.gif

bmc. Can you get a lager boat in if you land in Cohaset?

Esox,

I'm 99% sure you could get to the "hot pond" if you landed by the bridge in Cohasset. Why not just use the landing by MP&L? The river looks pretty much ice free, but I'm not totally sure about the stretch from the bridge landing to the MP&L landing.

Talked to a buddy of mine that still lives up there and they're hammering the bass and sunnies. Fishing off shore right next to the culvert. You'll have to figure out how to get 'em. The sunnies I guess are AVERAGING 9". He's only been able to get 'em one way. Good luck! By the way, the biggest bass I've seen come outta here was about 24" and on a digital scale was 9.3. It was outta season so it went back. I didn't catch it but the kid that was next to us almost blew a gasket when he pulled it in.

What length of the HT BLUES are you looking for? I've seen some 24" @ Walmart stores. Some in the rod/reel combos n some just the rod itself. I got my 30" frm Frankie's bait in Chisago so if you're in that area you can check it out or give them a call. I remember seeing some @ Blue Ribbon baits in Maplewood also. You can also give them a call. I hope this helps.

I shoot through the bottom..  Use plumbers putty to make a ring and use some to keep the diversity in place.   I just add enough water to make a good conductor.  Works great.  No worries about snagging the ducer outside the boat.  As for finders I have an old fish eagle, buddy just picked up a battery operated color unit from amazon says it worked good.

I noticed this morning that it had heaved out in Miller Bay kind of between the DNR access and Four Mile Bar. Really raising heck with my shore. Going to have to take a sledge hammer to my shore tomorrow so I can get out.

any current report on ice thickness around palisade?

That's doubtful with the warm forecast.

Just learned that someone broke through on Reno last night. He was pulling his 7'x12' fish house with his ATV and dropped the back of his fish house through on 3" out in the middle of the lake. Fortunately, nobody was hurt and he was able to somehow get it retrieved this morning. I guess they had to go over 100' from the front of the ATV to find 10" of ice.
