Ice Out Predictions

Recommended Posts

Here's my guesses:

Small lakes like Mollie where I live will be out by the end of this week, I'll say Friday at the latest.

Medium sized lakes will open between the 9th and 12th depending on size and depth.

Gull Lake will open on Saturday, April 15, which would be about one week early from the average I believe.

Maybe just wishful thinking. The ducks and geese are all over the open water edges by my house. That always gets the spring fever going.

What do you guys think.

Chuck,

You are right on the nuts!! Although I say there will still be a sheet of ice on Gull Saturday, but it will be gone on the 16th!

I'll be painting the minnow tanks this week, because it will happen fast now. If this weather keeps up it'll happen in 7-10 days. Time to get all your ducks in a row.

Mollie went out on Wednesday, Perch was out Thursday. Those are the only ones I've driven by in the past couple days. Nice to see the open water! Now I just have to finish getting my boat ready and rigged with a couple changes.

Please post the ice out of lakes you drive by or live on.

I wish I had said much earlier for my gull estimate. I'd now bet it will be out by Wednesday of next week (4/12) at this rate. That would be nine days ahead of the average.
