I really don't know much about most of these teams, but I thought it would be cool to have a office pool of sorts on the tourney. See who can pick the most winners.

I am with Buzzsaw. Except the Sioux at home are too tough over the Gophers. I think the Sioux will find their way into the 4, but then stall out.

I just hope Minnesota and North Dakota play each other EXACTLY they way they played each other in the regular season, Minnesota owned them.... but now it really matters.

Prediction 1. Gophers Win it all.... grin.gif

Prediction 2.

I like the Gophers in a close one with Holy Cross they have some veterans with tourney experience I think it will be close and we will need a late goal to Win.

Gophers 5-4.....Knessel with late goal.

North Dakota 4-0....I think they will dominate this game.

Boston U. 6-1......they should handle the cornhuskers....

Miami 2-1 3ot's....Boston C is not that great coin flip.

Wisconsin 3-0....if they don't choke it's a win.

Maine 4-3 3 ot's ...Harvard scores late to tie.

Cornel 5-2 .......how did CC get in this?????

MSU 3-2 .....they will survive a late scare..

North Dakota 5-3 Got a bad feeling on this one..GOALTENDING

Boston U 4-2 To strong for the overated Ohiouns!

Cornel 2-1 .....just kinda hoping on this one....

Maine 4-1 ...MSU is overated in my opinion... grin.gif

My prediction...

As I sit in the Ralph tonight watching the games, I expect the Gophers to win big in the early game, and I expect a really good game between ND and Michigan. No matter who wins that one, I expect a very good game on Saturday night.

I hope the Gophers win, but I have this feeling that ND in their home arena is gonna be tough to beat...

First Round

MSU

Maine

Wisc

CC

UND

MN

BC

BU

Frozen Four

MSU

Wisc

Minn

BU

Gophers beat Bucky for the title.

I hate that I haven't picked any upsets except for a couple #3's beating #2's which I hardly consider an upset. I went through game by game though and didn't take what seed they are into account and that's how it turned out. The east regional was by far the hardest for me to decide because I really think any of those four teams could emerge. Yeah, the Gophers sucked last weekend but the Holy Cross draw is great for them since I think they are the weakest team in the tournament. (I think BSU will be tough and I would love to see them upset WI even though it would throw my whole bracket off). The Gophers shouldn't have too much of a problem as long as they come to play and I think that will help get confidence back in the whole team. I could see Michigan pulling the upset but it will probably be UND and #16 and #19 should be more fired up than they have ever been to be playing back in their home state, especially since it may be their last game there if they go pro. The boos after stepping onto the ice from the Sioux fans should also get the maroon and gold fired up. As long as the Gophers come to play they will take home another title.

All in all it really doesn't matter who wins...I'm just excited to watch the best hockey of the year.

Thats the final 4 buzzy.

Actually unlike Red who gave up on the SUE earlier in the year I knew they were young and could peak at the end like a recent Gopher National Championship team did.

Don't get me wrong I hope they lose but there are team that concerns me.

Yes I was drinking like fish last night and could barely keep my eye's open when predicting... grin.gif

I'm sticking with my first prediction though... grin.gif

Nice effort! Talk about a classic case of peaking at the right time! I started watching the ND/Mich game and both those teams would have squashed us!

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
