What are the conditions for bringing up a wheel house to use as a base of operations? Can you get off the road to set it up anywhere without getting stuck? Thanks for any help.

No problem. The slush has frozen up good and the snow level has dropped. The past couple of days I saw some people going cross country with wheel houses.

Thanks for the information Kelly. I hope all is well and you haven't had any more bad luck. The season is almost over and I know it hasn't been as good as in the past but maybe next year with the walleyes being open there will be more people coming back. I like to catch fish as much as the next guy but it is something about the Lake that keeps you coming back regardless of the number of fish you catch. Red was one of the first lakes I fished for walleyes back in 1962 with my dad and I guess the spell was cast on me back then. Thanks again for all your knowledge over the years on this site and being willing to share it along with your sense of humor with the rest of us. I hope you will write a book someday about all your experiences - I sure enjoyed your grandfather's book. Take care.

Hey dubleaa, You be the weiner lips man or the weiner cleaner??

I prefer to classify myself more as the kind, well mannered young man that politely accounted for his friends misfortune and poorly timed/placed illness.

I believe the hog hunting farm is called Ridge Hunting Preserve, it is east of Little Falls the phone number is 320-745-2337 I know people who have hunted up there in the past and had a good time. They said the hogs were running wild in a 20 or 40 acre fenced area but it is not usually easy to get one but there is a high success rate if you have the time to work the area. I am going to confirm the location/name and will probably hunt there this year. Russian Boar are supposed to be pretty tasty and there are meat processors near by to drop the hog off at.

I went out after the wind died down. Caught 23 with a mix of eyes and saugers.  12 to 15”   With no slots. Fished 12 to 27’.

For Vermilion, the Lowrance lake insight data is identical to Lakemaster, 3 foot contours.

Maybe you should check the various sites that sell mapping stuff?   What is the Lowrance offering?   Is there a different Navionics choice?

You're correct trumy.  I just posted this on that page.  Thank you.

Hi everyone, I will be heading to Echo Lake, in the superior national Forest, the middle of June.  Never been there, but the small amount I found on this site says it's a good fishing lake.  Does anyone have past experience on this lake?  I'm targeting walleye mostly, but Pike and crappie are always on my menu.  Are there any lure colors that have worked well for you?  I'm mostly a live bait fisherman.  Any presentations that worked well?  Any advice will be greatly appreciated with this lake, and I will report back how it went/what worked.  Thank you everyone.
