We were on the far west side last Saturday through today. Weather was less than desirable with erratic morning temps along with rain/storms several times per day. Up to 3/4" hail early/middle part of the week. Winds were all over the map and really couldn't fish effectively where we wanted to fish. Water temps were pretty much 66 to 68 all week. Mayflies started to show up 4 days ago but we didn't see the main hatch. Most locals claim it's almost always the 3rd week of June. Walleye's were tough for us...only a few. I didn't join the 10+ boats congregated tightly in Niles bay. Smallies and bigger northern kept us busy. Ran into the DNR at the landing late in the week and they were stocking Musky fingerlings. Plenty of Musky boats in Head-O-Lakes in the evening and after dark. A few from the trip.....I love this lake. Cheers. -

We just got back from our trip. Although the water is still a bit high for this time of year, it seemed pretty normal. I saw no docks under water from Oak Narrows/Smart Bay to the far west end. -

Only made it out for a couple of hours Friday morning. Couple of 6" perch, 12" eye, and a 15" smallmouth. Missed a lot of light bites that were likely more small perch. I did hook my PB stick at 12 feet long (photo attached). I will blame my bad fishing on the mayflies as shown in the second photo. Enjoy the holiday week and good luck fishing. -

The on/off switch on my auger broke off and I would have to special order a replacement. I was wondering if I could just replace the orginal with a toggle switch with two contacts run the existing wire to one contact and a ground wire to the other contact. Anyone have any experience with this type of repair? Am I correct in assuming that the only purpose of the switch is to ground out the ignition?
