wabasha/Indian Slough

I know that the ice has been fairly good in this area of the backwaters and that some fish are being caught. Further to the south in the Wicox area fish are coming good from under 6 to 10 inches of ice. Most of these fish are shallow right now.

thanks for the update, I have fished Wilcox quite a few times in the last couple years, and I remember the fish being active, but small. I know it's great in the spring, but I haven't seen the slabs thru the ice.

West Newton has been kinda sorry this year, but that area a mile or so below Alma has been productive. Crappies have been coming from there on occasion....just another option for you.

I was in the wabasha area today fishing tip-ups with a group of five people. We got a nice little fire going on the ice and sat around, cooked some hot dogs, and consumed a few adult beverages. We ended up catching 4 northerns 3 were 24" and 1 26". We also had a few tear out about 5 yrds and clean the hook. fished from 7:30am to 5pm not the greatest day on the ice but it sure was fun running for that flag.
