BASS PRO SHOPS

Big article in the Tribune today as a matter of fact it is the headline. Heck if they build one at the mall I may actually go to the mall. No Bass Pro no mall for me!!

I really hope this goes thru, it would be great for our economy and it's always good to have another fishing store.

Makes me wonder if Cabelas is second guessing their Rogers location now.

I was at a Bass Pro Shop in Texas. It was the best place on earth. I'm going to have to get a second job if they build that store. I live only a few minutes from the mall. I am always frustrated I have to drive 20-30 minutes for a gander mountain or any decent fishing store.

just wait till the summer, cabelas will be doing even more business with that location, wioth all the tourists driving by on their way up north stopping to get a couple things on there way. That 94 corridor between st cloud and maple grove is the fastest growing area in the state.

I'd like to see Bass Pro come to Minnesota, but at the Mall? It would be great for the mall, but as posted above I only go if forced, which happens to be about twice a year.

I don't know, with Bass Pro there maybe I'd be more likely to go, at least I wouldn't be kicking and screaming all the way there wink.gif

I am absolutely sure that the ANTI's will get on board with this and have a field day with editorials in the Trib and Pioneer press about how unsafe it will be to shop at the mall of america with everyone carrying their new shotguns and rifles that they bought at Bass Pro Shops. WE can still ignore the roving gangs of punks that run around that place harasing people and causing fights in the parking lots, etc. Just wait, big time pressure will be put on the MOA executives to not allow gun sales at the MOA and Bass Pro will pull out......of course I am pesamistic by nature and if they do open, that will be awesome, my kids love going to cabelas, and this would be 30 minutes closer to where I am located. Maybe I would look into a second job as well........I visited one in the Dallas Ft. Worth Area a few years ago, and I think they have more stuff on the floor than Cableas does.....

I was also at the Bass Pro Shop near Dallas. They has some HUGE bass in a tank there that were pulled from Lake Fork in Texas. I think that some of them could fit my head in their mouth.

I also thought Bass Pro Shop seemed bigger then Cabelas. Should be fun to wander around that place.

Like I said Max, I am pretty pessamistic (however you spell it) Look at what happend in bloomington and hennepin counties with the smoking (Contact US Regarding This Word) in a private business. I know that is a stretch but we have a lot of bleeding heart liberals in this state with nothing better to do than get their agenda across, which unfortunately, you can't be a true liberal if you don't support abortion and gun control/banning..........

I know they aren't coming for me yet, but I do have my eyes open

the word I used was B A N

Drive by the Rogers store. No second guessing yet. Parking lot is completely full.

Yes, they are busy without a doubt and Cabelas is the #2 destination spot in the state, but if Bass Pro comes in they will be at the #1 location.

Personally I thought Alberville would have been a better spot for it, right next to the outlet mall connected by a skyway or shuttle. That way she has a place to go and you do to. Nothing like spending quality time together in different stores! grin.gif

Bass Pro will be awesome!

Is it just my reading of the aricle, or will Bass Pro be a seperate building next to IKEA? That would eliminate the whole gun issue.

When you purchase a gun, don't they have to escort you out of the store with it? I thought I saw that at one of the stores somewhere. I may be wrong. Just my 2 cents.

Man I need to eat lunch before I post........I feel better now, still think there will be pressure not to let them open or at the least not sell guns, but still I want them to open, I want more competition between the three we have up here now (Cabelas, GM and way back in 3rd, Fleet Farm) hopefully they are still open in 16 years when my kids head off to college, that way I can get the second job and just sign the paycheck back to the company.....Welcome BPS, too bad it is not open now, I have to meet my wife at IKEA to look at some bunk beds for the kids....

BASS PRO SHOP in minnesota is great but to make it even greater it's gonna be at the MOA. I go to MOA 3-4 times a year, when the old lady and kids want me to drive them there. All these years I notice that there ain't a sporting goods store that has a good selective of fishing and hunting equipments there. Cabelas going to be my seconds if BPS comes here. BPS will be more than welcome to come to the MOA. cool.gif

From a family retail experience, you would be correct wink.gif But the reason Cabellas chose Rogers was to not only get the folks going to the Alex area, but also those going up 169 via 101 through Rogers.

Ludlows and Muskego both hit hard.  The Dayton place had a lot of big trees down, not sure of structural damage.  Some say a tornado skipped thru that area.  Looking at the destruction, I could believe it.  I feel bad for those impacted by this storm.   Below are a few snap shots of common sights around the area a day or two after the storm.

Mike, was there a lot of damage in the Ely area?

Drove through Annandale last Tuesday and was really bummed to still only see the old cement slab at Little Jim's. Hope they can get it built-back-better! 🙂

I heard recently the water level had gone down some. Sound like folks are re really dealing with a mess.    Fishing pictures look like a good year in that regard.   Hope the property loss isn't terrible but seems bad.   Bill

Yesterday was a grind to find bigger fish but we landed a few. Only 3 fish overall but they were all nice fish, all C&R. I do believe the sunfish are out of the shallows besides small ones. Thursday I took the nephews out and didn't see any on beds.

Glad you keep coming back, Mark. And glad you still know the way to catch a slew of walleyes. I wish i could’ve learned more while you were here. But I appreciate all the information you provide on what worked for you.  Strange year. We just got part of our dock in and our boat. I fished a couple hours this morning for the first time on a Frazer hump you know and caught ten under 12” and one keeper which I released… a nice 26+“. I’m hoping more to come soon. I hope all is well with you, Dick

Maybe the bamboozler will end up being like every fish story, some old timers holding their hands out as wide as possible to demonstrate to a youngster just how big it was....
