Bow Mount Fish Finder Question

Guest

Question

I have an 05 Tracker. My only fishfinder is on the rear of the boat and I have a Motor Guide Trolling motor up front. How and where can I mount a front Fish Finder???

Are you looking to set up another, or try to utilize the same in both spots? The easiest is to get another finder. Both scenerio's will require purchases. At the very least you would need another power cord.

Trolling motor mount (LEI makes them - probably other too) to match whatever you want for a depthfinder on the front. I like the TM mount better than the thru-hull on front (personal preference).

I like to have a flasher style locator mounted to the trolling motor. It gives you real time depth reading which allows you to stay on structure or a certain depth better. You can get a vexilar trolling motor transduces and all the mounting brackets and cable for about 60$. Good luck.

you can mount almost any type of locator transducer to a trolling motor, by just taking the flat bracket that comes with; bending the corners a little so you can run a hose clamp through the ears, and long enough to go around the trolling motor.then taping or using the little plastic zip ties to fasten the cable to the shaft.( just be certain to allow for clearance for the motor to turn ,and for stowing it. every one has a preference as to which locator to buy. shop around and see what one fits your needs and budget!

On my Hummingbird I have one transducer on the transom and one on my trolling motor (bow mount) and select which to use by a flip of a switch. Although I like the setup, it would be good to be able to read depth at the front of the boat without having the electric down.

I heard recently the water level had gone down some. Sound like folks are re really dealing with a mess.    Fishing pictures look like a good year in that regard.   Hope the property loss isn't terrible but seems bad.   Bill

Yesterday was a grind to find bigger fish but we landed a few. Only 3 fish overall but they were all nice fish, all C&R. I do believe the sunfish are out of the shallows besides small ones. Thursday I took the nephews out and didn't see any on beds.

Glad you keep coming back, Mark. And glad you still know the way to catch a slew of walleyes. I wish i could’ve learned more while you were here. But I appreciate all the information you provide on what worked for you.  Strange year. We just got part of our dock in and our boat. I fished a couple hours this morning for the first time on a Frazer hump you know and caught ten under 12” and one keeper which I released… a nice 26+“. I’m hoping more to come soon. I hope all is well with you, Dick

Maybe the bamboozler will end up being like every fish story, some old timers holding their hands out as wide as possible to demonstrate to a youngster just how big it was....

Fished a bigger lake, fish or at least the eaters are on the mid lake humps. Water Temps 68 degrees, freezer now has 6 total as I've been eating fish often. Tomorrow we chase the 30" walleye for catch and release.
