Does anyone fish either of these lakes located just west of Faribault? Wondering if they're worth a try. Fish counts seem to be good, but those are nearly 5 years old now. Any info would be appreciated.

I THOUHGT THE DNR HAD UPDATED STOCK DATA IN 2004'BUT DON'T QOUTE ME. HOWEVER ACSESS TO MOST OF THE GOOD SPOTS ARE TOUGH WITHOUT AN ATV OR SNOWMOBILE EXSPECIALLY THIS YEAR, GIVEN LATE/POOR ICE CONDITIONS WICH SEEM TO BE IMPROVING RAPIDLY.

I HEARD OF AS WELL AS SEEN FEW LARGE CRAPPIES APPROX.

12"-15" HOWEVER NEVER MORE THAN A FEW AT A TIME

Are there any other lakes worth fishing right near Faribault? I am looking to kill some time while my sister has a basketball tournament.

Why would that be? Is there a lot of snow or something that makes it difficult to get out on these lakes? Would it be difficult walking out there?

Basscatcher, These lakes are both good for pannies. Misyska has been doing well for crappie. Ice seems to be doing well on this lake. Didn't see it for myself but heard that some were driving trucks on the lake. French is a good possible to give up some good pike now and again. Don't know much about Cannon lk. but with the Cannon River through it should hold some good fish.

I have only fished Cedar a couple times and I have never done anything worth noting. However, I know nothing about the lake.

I fish Hunt on more of a regular basis. I have done well on bluegills in the past. 2 years ago I found a group of them that ran 7 to 9 inches. I have only been out there once this season and caught 30-40 fish and kept 10 for a meal. The majority were small, but I did pick up a few nice ones. It took awhile to find them and when the sun hit the horizon they really turned on for about 20 minutes. I have fished the deeper hole for crappies with limited success in the past.

Stopped at VC last week as well.  Didn't have pizza, but the sandwiches and appetizers we had were good.  The service was very good.  However, that's the first and only time we had been there.

Any other info about VC?   Got kid and and fam coming up.  Been a couple years but really liked it.   Reviews on line still good.   Did Mark just hit on a bad night or has it gone down?   Being on west not a place we go often.

Going up to visit family at Mille lacs 4th of July weekend. Given the current fishing restrictions and the fact that I don’t have a boat, does anyone know any good shore/kayak fishing lakes in the Mille lacs area?

Spent yesterday afternoon wading the upper croix. Water actually seemed a little low. There was lots of floating grass, so my traditional approach of using a fire tiger jointed rapala was unusable. Tried a whopper plopper for a bit, which avoided floating grass better, but I just didn’t have confidence in using it. So since it seemed like the crayfish outnumbered the rocks, I decided to use a weightless Texas rigged plastic craw. Caught 3 smallies, and a pike.

Here's the actual water level as of Saturday, 6-25. It has dropped some but still is 4 feet above the rule curve. This is updated daily; it's just too early in the day for Sunday's data to be posted. You can check it yourself here: http://www.lwcb.ca/waterflowdata.html

@chaffmj, never mind.  I decided to take a cruise on up there today.  Had a couple popple tops in the driveway but nothing I couldn’t clear.  Nice to see the area again.

Ludlows and Muskego both hit hard.  The Dayton place had a lot of big trees down, not sure of structural damage.  Some say a tornado skipped thru that area.  Looking at the destruction, I could believe it.  I feel bad for those impacted by this storm.   Below are a few snap shots of common sights around the area a day or two after the storm.

Mike, was there a lot of damage in the Ely area?

Drove through Annandale last Tuesday and was really bummed to still only see the old cement slab at Little Jim's. Hope they can get it built-back-better! 🙂

I heard recently the water level had gone down some. Sound like folks are re really dealing with a mess.    Fishing pictures look like a good year in that regard.   Hope the property loss isn't terrible but seems bad.   Bill
