Last year we had a fantasy baseball league thru yahoo. Entry Fee was $5.00 worth of fishing lures, at the end of the season the winner took all. Anyone still interested in doing that again this year?? If no lure is sent, and you win, you get nothing!!!! You must pay to play!! Let me know

I think I could swing that, i did a yahoo league last year and think they have a great and easy system.

Last year i believe we did an automatic draft, but live draft works for me, as long as everyone shows up for it. Let me know what you think!

Last year i thought there wer some real weird categories, example. Complete Games and shut outs for pitchers, Fielding Percentage for players was weird as well, i thin kwe need to insert doubles and triples in there. just my 2 cents.

ya i agree, Automatic drafts are better, Only time Live Drafts are called for, is when you are in a "Big Money" League. just my 2 cents. How many can we get we will try to ind out, i will post this in other threads to attract more people!

I will be in again this year. I was commish last year and wouldn't mind doing it again, but lets get more guys that send in lures this year. Last year I only received lures from 5 our of 12 guys, but the winner was one of them.

We can definitely include dubs and trips in the scoring catagories. I think the less pitching stats the better, maybe that would lessen the adding and dropping.

I agree 100% about everyone sending in Lures, i mean its $5.00 big deal, jus some people are too lazy to go out and buy them, and then ship them out. Oh well, Bushwacker, i liked ya last year as the Commish, you were always on the message board, and updating, keeeping things in-line, if you want the job, i think you got it!!!

If there is still room I'll play. I like the concept of fishing lures for the pot. I have only used live drafting in the past (very time consuming and a pain to get all involved to commit to a time). How does the automatic draft work?

I will play again also, it was fun last year, even though I did not win. and I was one of the five that sent in a lure. the football leauge was also great, since I won it all. grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

any type draft will work for me, as long as a live draft is on friday saturday or sunday, since I work the nightshift.

lets play for a lure package again. same as last year.

I tried to sign up a league already, but the registration doesn't start until mid-Febuary. I think we will do a auto-draft like last year, but if enough people want to do a live draft that would work too. The people that can't make it will just have their line-ups drafted auto anyway, so it would still work.

I'd be interested in a live draft if I can make it. Definitely send in some lures also! Let me know!

Here we go guys, FM Fantasy Baseball 2006-

League ID# 8960

League Name# FM Baseball

League Password- Fishing

12 Teams, Head-To-Head scoring, auto draft as of now, but if over 6 people want live draft we can change it down the road.

If you sign up for the league, you are committing to sending in a lure that is valued around $5.00. It is a small commitment, but makes it fun during the season and during the playoffs. Winner basically gets $60.00 worth of lures.

To allow other managers to join your league, send them the League ID# and Password. In your case, the ID# is 8960 and the Password is Fishing.------Make sure you are using an upper-case F in Fishing.

Here are the stats: R, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP

Welcome to the league!

I will get my address posted on the message board on the league homepage once it fills up.

when is the auto draft set to kick in? once it fills up? I noticed it is on "ready" status. I'm just wondering how much time I have to do some tweaking with the pre-rankings.

Thanks!

Do we have a "theme" on the lures? i.e. walleye lures, raps, open water, ice fishing lures? or doesn't it matter?

never mind, I am in.

I had to go to the free leauge, then make sure to cap the F in fishing.

we still need 6 teams, come in, it is great fun.

i'm in too, should be fun. one quick question, would anyone be interested in me sending a kit of hand tied flies? if there are enough people that would be interested in that i'll tie some up, (more than 5$ worth) otherwise it's no problem to go buy a couple lures or two.

I'm not there, so I can't tell exactly what's going on but it looks like a large area of open water developed in the last day with all of the heavy snow on the east side of wake em up Narrows. These two photos are from my Ring Camera facing north towards Niles Point.  You can see what happened with all of snow that fell in the last three days, though the open water could have been wind driven. Hard to say. .

Black Bay had great ice before but a few spots near rockpiles where there were spots of open water. It looks like the weight of the snow has created a little lake in the middle of the bay.

On the south end...   Thanks to some cold spring weather, ice fishing continues strong for those still ice fishing.  The bite remains very good.  Most resorts have pulled their fish houses off for the year, however, some still have fish houses out and others are allowing ATV and side by sides.  Check social media or call ahead to your favorite resort for specifics. Reports this week for walleyes and saugers remain excellent.   A nice mix of jumbo perch, pike, eelpout, and an occasional crappie, tullibee or sturgeon being reported by anglers. Jigging one line and using a live minnow on the second line is the way to go.  Green, glow red, pink and gold were good colors this week.     Monster pike are on a tear!  Good number of pike, some reaching over 45 inches long, being caught using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring in 8 - 14' of water.   As always, work through a resort or outfitter for ice road conditions.  Safety first always. Fish houses are allowed on the ice through March 31st, the walleye / sauger season goes through April 14th and the pike season never ends. On the Rainy River...  The river is opened up along the Nelson Park boat ramp in Birchdale, the Frontier boat ramp and Vidas boat ramp.  This past week, much of the open water skimmed over with the single digit overnight temps.   Areas of the river have popped open again and with temps getting warmer, things are shaping up for the last stretch through the rest of the spring season, which continues through April 14th.   Very good numbers of walleyes are in the river.  Reports this week, even with fewer anglers, have been good.  When temps warm up and the sun shines, things will fire up again.   Jigs with brightly colored plastics or jigs with a frozen emerald shiner have been the desired bait on the river.  Don't overlook slow trolling crankbaits upstream as well.   Good reports of sturgeon being caught on the river as well.  Sturgeon put the feed bag on in the spring.  The bite has been very good.  Most are using a sturgeon rig with a circle hook loaded with crawlers or crawlers / frozen emerald shiners. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing is winding down up at the Angle.  Walleyes, saugers, and a number of various species in the mix again this week.  The bite is still very good with good numbers of fish.  The one two punch of jigging one line and deadsticking the second line is working well.   Check with Angle resorts on transport options from Young's Bay.  Call ahead for ice road guidelines.

With the drifting, kind of hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing about a foot and still lightly snowing. Cook end!

How much snow did you get on Vermilion?
    • Mike89
lake here refroze too...  started opening again yesterday with the wet snow and wind...  very little ice left today...
    • Hookmaster
A friend who has a cabin between Alex and Fergus said the lake he's on refroze. He texted me a pic from March 12th when it was open and one from 23rd when it wasn't. 🤯
    • SkunkedAgain
I don't think that there has been any ice melt in the past few weeks on Vermilion. Things looked like a record and then Mother Nature swept in again.   I'll give my revised guess of April 21st
