I think I'm going to try Willow Thurs morning, if anyone else will be out at that time. I don't have a shack, so I'll be the guy on the bucket w/ the old timey hand auger.

Go Baby Go,

I couldn't make it today but I plan on going out Friday morning. Drop by if you can I too will be the guy with a bucket and hand auger.

Went out for about an hour this morning. Was pretty excited, had the lake to myself. I bought myself a Humminbird RF-20 rod mount depth finder that I haven't tried yet. I get in about 10 feet of water, got a nibble right away, and I could see maybe 6 or 7 fish go by. Then the ice started popping- alot. The ice was 9 inches were I was, so I knew I wasn't going through, but that popping and cracking had me paranoid. Then my electronics started going berzerk and I called it a day. Friday may be possibility, I'll let you know later this evening.

That's exactly why I left Foster's last night. I didn't see anyone else there and the ice seemed to have running cracks every 20 seconds or so. I knew I was safe, but all alone, in the dark? I got paranoid like a sissy girl! It was too dark to fish anyway.

Better safe than sorry Ron. I'll admit I'm the biggest skirt in the world when it comes to walking around on the ice this winter. smirk.gif

I almost started laughing and I thought someone had to be video taping me because no matter what direction I looked, it would crack right behind me. It wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't have to cross back over the lake to get to the truck.

I'm new to this ice fishing sport so it's good to know that I'm not the only one who gets spooked about cracking ice. I'm going out to WC in the morning (Friday). It sounds like that long walk to the point will be interesting.

PDM- I'll try to get out there around 8 again..My fish finder started working so I want to try it out again before I have to send it back to Alabama for service.

Big D- Like I said earlier, it was 8-10 inches were I was, and it only popped really once the sun started hitting it, not while I was walking around, so I think everyone will be ok. But it was pretty warm today.

Pop ups have increased for me for a while now.  Timed to cover my usual taps about the time I would tap.

So there is a boat on a friend's property, has been there for about 4 years, with no contact from owner, and she is unreachable. It was last registered in 2020. Is there any way for him to make it his, legally?

I'm getting a lot of popups adds. Just wondering if it's just my computer or is every one getting them?

Birds at home have been quiet and out of sight.  Not sure where they went.  Last year they wouldn’t respond to calls - until they did.  But that will be common until the girls quit being friendly.

I've seen about 60 turkeys in 1.5 days of hunting thus far.  Unfortunately they are not responding to calls or decoys and the only birds that have walked within range are hens.   It's just a waiting game now.  Deer hunting for turkeys, hoping a legal one walks past before I have to quit in a few days...

A bunch of webcams available these days to see progress as well:   https://lakevermilionresorts.com/webcams/   Looks to be pulling away from shore. I expect ice out between next Friday and Sunday based on temps in the forecast.  Some sun and then some wind would get it going quickly.

But wait Meg, there's more!   Anyway, do you like fishing?  Trolling's kind of fun!  🤭

Well lol, Google is your friend! 🤭     Yes, the 2012 movie "Loon Lake" was filmed in Minnesota. Specifically, it was shot in southwest Minnesota, with locations including Round Lake, Pioneer Village, and Jackson County. The film is also based on a local legend from southwest Minnesota about a witch who lived by Loon Lake.

Well indeed there is a movie and the trailer will help you near down the 25 lakes a lot by just checking into the Loon Lakes in Southwest, MN.  Should be easy now. Have fun.    Eager to escape the grief and nightmares of the city, Louis Olsen travels to Southwest Minnesota, seeking the peace of the rural countryside. When he accidentally disturbs the grave of a supposed local 'witch' Mary Jane Terlinden, what began as a peaceful reprieve unravels into a haunting nightmare from which Louis cannot escape - but is it all just in his head?

Great. That's usually a good sign for ice break-up.
