im heading up to low for the 1st time and staying in a sleeper shack. i was just wondering if there is anything that i will need up there that i will realize i forgot once i get there that i need it. and any bait suggestions we are staying out of arnisons, any help from expierence people whould be much appriciated. also would you suggest buying some shiners from a local bait store before we get there, bait is included but i think they are fat heads.

Packman - do a search using the appropriate key words for about a year back - this topic had a pretty good thread going then. I'd by shinners - they never hurt if the fatheads don't work and you're talking just a few bucks.

When you are using shiners for bait are you still only using the heads and not the whole shiner? I know that we only use the heads when we use fatheads for bait.

Sorry to hear yer stuck in a sleeper house, crazy.gif you do know the fish dont bite at night on LOW? confused.gif One thing I would bring for sure is transportation so you can actually do something when the sun is down... I prefer the sleepers. The fish don't bite at night but it's cheaper, and I like the camping out feel that you get from staying in a sleeper with your old buddies. There is just something about staying out on the ice for an entire weekend. We bring a couple of sleds, play a lot of cards, and drink plenty of gluek (Yes gluek, I don't know why but its tradition) after dark when we’re not fishing. I must admit though that I am ready to leave after 3 nights of it.

Walleyenut: Whether I am using shiners or fatheads I use the same techniuqe. I'm the minnow is on a jiggin' bait I use the head only, sometimes just the tail. If I'm fishing either under a bobber (dead stick) I will use the whole minnow so there is some swimming action. Bill

I don't think they have fixed much

More playas bite the dust.  Probably at least 5 more by the sounds of the reports.  Gotta be at least the many so I can be out too!

Have faith. You can see progress and ice depth from previous years on the Eagle Docks FB page. They said 16 inches a day or so ago.  A few years back they had 16 inches only a week before official ice out.  60s to even 70s next weekend.  It will be gone before opener. I'm planning on docks and lifts next weekend, but I am in a small protected bay that goes out pretty early.

We need optimism right now. The small bays haven't even opened up yet, which is typically two weeks before the big bays lose their ice. The forecast is in our favor though and I see that it's windy today, also a great sign.

Go to the DMV, see if there's a serial number on it. They should be able to title it

I moved my blind right into the middle of the field after I left this morning.  It sticks out like a sore thumb on the landscape.  A friend advised me to try this.  We'll see if it works later.  I hate the way it looks without blending in, but I have to try something else.

For a long time I've been getting pop-ups and error pages where I have to back page. I just thought it was the price of playing in the old sand lot! 🤔
